Hey Paul,
Got to run the sled the week between Christmas and New Years in the UP.
After doing the needles the sled ran great and the plugs were very safe.
The final setup was pilot jets 47.5, fule screw 2 turns, main jets 148.8, 150, 150. Needles 4th PTO, 5 and 5.
This was with the tempa-flo installed
Like I said the sled ran great with the plugs looking a little black with a dark cardboard color on the exhaust side.
MPG sucked! I'm looking at a little over 6 MPG.
What were you getting for mileage when you ran your SX?

The best i could muster was around 8, and that was easy riding. On the Muni ride last year I was always the one sweating running out of fuel. I had my needles a little lower, but I had egt to keep an eye on it too. Maxdlx

I couldn't believe the mileage! Freaked me out. I kept sniffing around the engine compartment thinking I had a gas line leak.
I ran it early in the season w/o the tempa, 146.3 mains and everything else the same except for the needles at 3.0 and I was fouling plugs. I've pulled the tempa, went back to the 146.3's and lowered the needle to 2.0. I'm saying screw the tempa, the stock chart shows the 146's to be good around -15 this should be plenty safe for the UP.

BTW Paul,
Thanks for the reply. I was so busy whining about my MPG I forgot to say thanks.

I just can't see the tempa flow hurting your gas milage that much. Did you try and lean the unit down some to see if it would up you MPG any. Theres gotta be something we're missing here. Paul

I hear you. Personally I think the tempa is defective. The way the machine ran fat without it and then way lean after installing the tempa with no carb changes I thinks its got to be the tempa.
I'll find out how the plugs look now as soon as we get a little snow on the ground. I hope to get a good look at it before Muni next week, otherwise I'll be bringing a bag of jets with me.
