I recently installed my handheld GPS on my handlebars of my 94 VMAX 600. Has anyone had any issues with freezing up or extra short battery life. Also does the 94 Vmax put out enough juice to power unit by 12 volt. Unit is a magellan sport trak map.

i usually carry my garmin in my pocket while riding and it does shorten the battery life when there cold. the guy at the total battery store in town said that they have lithium ion AA batterys that arent affected by the cold buy there about 3 times the price of regular ones

I use the lithium AAA's in my digital camera in the winter. MUCH better life. I've been paying $10 for a 4 pack (Energizer lithium at Brooks Pharmacy) - so they are about double the price , not triple. Well worth it. You should see a big increase in run time on your GPS.
Check out the sled mount pics about a third of the way down this page. Dude put a heater in his mount to help with battery life/cold weather function.
