I just read in Supertrax a speculation that Yamaha might be introducing a new 4-stroke model for 2007 - smaller & lighter than the Vector line. They suggest maybe a 600 twin. Sounds like a good entry level machine, or one that the wife might be happy on. Anyone heard anything?

Yeh, ask the dealers, Yamaha HAS to have something a family can put a 12 year old on - something that isn't 120 HP and doesn't cost $8000. It's a big hole in their lineup and I'll bet they address it in '07.Old Thumper said:I just read in Supertrax a speculation that Yamaha might be introducing a new 4-stroke model for 2007 - smaller & lighter than the Vector line. I don't think I'd care what they put in it as long as it doesn't look like the 'Freestyle' from Ski-poo.

That "Freestyle" has to be among the ugliest sleds ever, I would not feel the least bit bad passing ahead of one of those on the trails.
The raptor motor only produces 50 some hp, and sleds ususally need more than that as they are always needing power to keep going, unlike a quad which has a much lower rolling resistance than a sled.
It is also a reasonable idea to have a quad engine in a sled because on that rear portion pic of the new sled, there is racing quads in the back ground, this could possibly be meaning something.

I was looking in Yamaha Europe for bikes, to see what kind of motors they had . They have a single cyl. 660-XT street bike, with EFI, and twin pipes. Then a TDM 900 twin, other then that not much for twins. But they do have a WR450F 2-track, it has front wheel drive, hydraulic driven.
