i have a 1999 vmax 600 sx and was thinking of doing the silencer mod to it what are the prose and cons for this mod any thing i should watch for. also how much hp will i gain and do i have to re jet or any thing else :yrules:

no hp gains on the 600,only on the 700. no jetting required,it will just be a about 4db's louder thats all you will get out of doing it.

I did all 3 TY mods to my '99 600 triple all at the same time (reed notch, exhaust hole, and head gasket). I left jetting stock, never had any issues at all, though I've never ridden in temps colder than minus 5 F. I'd say that it definitely runs better, but not so much in HP, rather in ez starting, warm up, and throttle response. It takes the gas instantly now when I blip the throttle. She's probably leaner with the pipe punched out, but that's ok by me. It seemed too rich B4 and plugs are still chocolate brown. Do it!

I did it to mine the other night and I think it sounds pretty good. It seems like it's more responsive now too but maybe I'm imagining things. ;):D

Silencer Mod?

What is involved with a silencer mod??
I have a stock can and would like to have it sound a bit better.
I do have a Bender can that I bought used and love the sound, but when I have it on my sled makes some pretty funny popping sounds in the pipe

Love to try the silencer mod though
