I need some help with identifiying these weights - the one looks larger, yet it's suppose to be lighter?

(Trying the tech page clutching set up in a 98 XTC 700.)

Another question is one rivets quite a bit longer than the stock ones - do I have to smash it all the way so it doesn't have room to slide back and forth in the arm?

Thanks Guys.

no, what you have there is a 2.4 rivet and a 4.5 rivet, the 2.4 is the smaller one, notice how the head of it is very thin, and its shorter in length, the 4.5 has a very thick head and longer, its heavier. The 3.6 rivets yamaha makes are a black oxide coated, looks like thats whats in the weight you have there in the pic.

OOPS - Better clarify - The ones that are in there stick are suppose to be 13.5 grams according to the stock specs in the tech pages? These are suppose to be 4.5 and 3.1 gram rivets that I got from Bruce at CB. Is that what they are? These are that much lighter than the sock ones, yet the one is larger? Doesn't make sense to me.

Yamaha classifies them by length in millimeters and the material they're made of.

Yeh, you gotta smash 'em flat enough to clear the spider arms. You're supposed to put the weights in from the side where the weight ID mark is, then start tapping lightly with a ball pein hammer and for a long time until they're flat enough.
