what are the best skis

hi, im just wondering what everyone thinks are the best skis to replace your stock yamaha skis.....and which ones are the lightest. ive heard everyone talking about the simmons skis. my use will be trail and powder. seems like the simmons are more for powder arent they...since they are concave? also what are some of the skis that the snowcross racers use? and will the simmons skis releave the darting? how are they on trail?......... any information would be very useful.... thanks

Go with the simmons, i dont think you will go wrong. Yea they get rid of the darting as they have a duel runner set up. Also if its darting that you want eliminated you can buy Woodys duel runners. Cheaper than new skis.

yeah i really think i am going to go with the simmons they look sweet ...i like the theory of more flotation since they are concave it makes sense. also wouldnt they turn better seems how they have 2 skaggs? i wonder how light the simmons are compared to the other brands?....the only other thing i question is how they are on hard packed trails......and then wich color better matches yamaha blue/ the dark blue or just the blue ...........maybe ill email simmons direct ............thanks for your imput though.

I really like my simmon's, and they are the ski of choice by most of the
guys in the club, no matter what they ride. Also they flex some, so it's
like adding a little more front suspension. Over on the Snowest forum
I believe theres a guy selling them new and complete for $325 shipped.
 
I like the SLP powder pros, they work really well and they are lighter then the simmions....just what I think.....I love them....
 
Stock Yamaha skis are garbage. I tried USI's which were acceptable and on my new Viper I did the Simmons and I think they are the best. Put six inch carbides on the outside and four inch on the inside. Pond

thanks guys......all of you have been very helpful ...ive been looking at the c&a razors they look nice too.....so now its between them and the simmons ...im leaning more towards simmons....what do you guys think of the c&a razors? im trying to figure out wich ones are lightest the simmons are 8lbs with everything right c&a are saying 6lbs er something but that i think is without the mounting plates .......wich ones do you guys think are lighter? (when all the hardware is on them) simmons or c&a rzrs? let me know what you guys think as it will help with my desicion.....thanks
 
If I were you I would go with Simmons they are made here where I live and the owner Verlin is the nicest person you will ever meet a couple months ago I broke a loop I called him at home and he was eating dinner he said wait an hour and bring it by and I will fix it he fixed it put new runners on it and charged me $40.00 for everything customer service goes a long long way with me. Keep that in mind when you make your decision
 
I got my skis from a place called www.CBperformanceparts.com These are said to be the absolute lightest ski on the market. These are weighed in at 4 pounds and are very strong. All of you powder guys should check them out. I have these skis and my sled and I couldn't tell you how many heads I have turned with them because they are polished aluminum. I have the entire front end on my SRX. These skis are worth a look. I hope you will be as satified with them as I am.
 
I like the C & A's (Ultra's) Have the race skis, trail skis, and the sport skis... all seem to do the job well!
 
I have the c&a's on a 02 viper with 1.25 track and simmons on a 04 viper 1.25 track and the simmons in most conditions out perform the c&a's. Much easier to turn on hard pack but work well in the powder but the simmons seam to get on top faster. i would go with the simmons, but either way big improvement over stock.
 
I agree with snakester...Verlin is the best..I've used simmons for many yrs now and they are the best for powder and are very stable. I also like the flex.
but I'm now going to the Powder pro's for the following reason....they are very positive and require less ski pressure with an aggresive carbide(let all the limiters all the way out!) and control the sugary stuff on the trails better.
I see it this way...what % of the time will be on groomed trail vs. powder off trail...
if one rides groomed trail 70% of the time or better..I'd suggest the powder pro's ...let the limiters all the way out and enjoy a better rear ride !
 
I own Both. The Simmons flex on my Viper and C&A Race skis on my trail mod srx. In my opinion there is no comparison for control the C&A with 8" of carbide outperforms the simmons skis with two sets of carbides for steering control. They are both a huge improvement over stock. And the Simmons definately look cool.
