I've got a 2002 SRX 780 big bore, case ported, Viper crank, and Hauck "Venom" heads. Stock track with 192 studs. I think it needs a different clutch set up. It runs pretty even with a clutched F7. I would really appreciate the help of MrViper, Magic and Turk. I would like a good all round trail set up. It has the following...

8BU-00
3.1 first hole
2.4 in the tip
W-W-W (shimmed 2MM)
45-41 Micro Belmont
Yamaha Silver @60

The RPM's jump to 8500 and stay there. It is not hitting 81-8200 and then climbing to 8500 like what most people suggest. The back shift is good, seems better than stock. On the speedo the best I have seen is 105 mph. (I'm a big guy, 225#)

By the way...Great site, I have been coming here for years but this is my first post. The information and knowledge I have obtained here is invaluable. The information has educated me about what works and what is a waste of money.

Something is way wrong my 02 srx will show 120 on the speedo on hard pack and I weigh about 260. This is stock with minor clutching. Are you geared way down or what?

I have an 835 bender kit in a mtn viper and can EASILY outrun 1010s...I use the 89a10 wieghts with 2.4 inner and nothing outer..You should load that motor up with way more helix..I am running a 56/46 with a 159"x 16 wide and can hit 95 mph in a short run. I also use the Bender sec spring (used to be red/yellow) set @0/2 great up and backshift

your using the wrong weights to out run those sleds. run the stock 8DN-20's with both holes filled with 4.5 gram rivets. 105MPH with those weight is good but is not a top end weight. its only good and effective for 500-600 feet short drag races. get the 20's back in there that came stock with the sled and it will be ugly for the cats

I don't know if they are the best ones to use, but most of the set ups recomended to me use 8BU-00's. Only one set up was with 8DN-20's. Do you have a recomendation because I don't know enough about clutching to set it all up on my own.
