O.K. I "m running with the 53/43 helix grn spring at 60,inch and quarter ripsaw,I dropped to a 21 tooth gear, and totally rebuilt my primary this year- running 8dn20 with 4.5 in both inner and outer. From a dead stop its great pulls hard to 8400rpms,top end is good too from 100km up its fine. Heres the problem running in the 40-100km zone its a dog really slugish until I reach higher speeds then its fine ran 8400-8600 rpm all day!! Do I need to change my primary spring from a stock one to stiffer or less stiff?? Or does the secondary need to be wrapped higher or does that spring have to be changed!! I know the weights are heavy but the Rpms are perfect!! Help me out boys!! The motor and exaugst are stock!!

Thanks I'll try that and work from there appreciate the help, sounds like the problem now that you guys mention it, It feels like a car in third gear without enough speed or revs if that makes sense

its not backshifting quick enough when you lett of the gas. when you get back on it, your in the mid range and your clutches are still shifted out. that would be what to look for if your drag racing but not for trail riding. yea i agree 70 twist on the green spring is perfect

ya johny it definitely sounds like a problem with the secondary shifting out too fast....ur secondary should be at least 70 deg with that setup.....
so how do u like the smaller top gear?...noticeable difference? :2strokes:

try the secondary wrapped at 70 and see if that helps....if not i think u may want to consider shedding some weight from ur primary....maybe going to a little lighter rivet on ur inner hole...

Rino the smaller gear with the clutch setup works nice pulls really hard I dont want to shed any weight from the primary because the rpms are perfect I think its the secondary wrap going to try this weekend and let you know!!!

ya sounds good.....i agree if your rpms are holding throughout the band then i think ur good on the primary....i was thinking that maybe a new helix for ur set up may be required....something a little shallower with more backshift?

viperino, he already has a better backshift, its a 43 degree finish angle. the stock is a 47. The smaller the finish angle the faster the backshift will be, along with applying more belt grip in the secondary.
