Running aeens on a 98 vmax700. Our clutches and springs are the same except your year has a 10.3 inner weight and mine a 13.9. All I did was add a engagement shim and wrap the secondary to 70. 9200 with a new belt down to 8800 on a old belt. Hope this helps.

If you neglected to thoroughly clean the clutches, I'd start there. Also, new belts have a release agent on them, and hitting them with full throttle off the bat will usually glaze them and the clutch sheaves, causing over rev.
I'd try an older belt, scotch bright the sheaves, and clean the heck out of the clutches. Then consider adjustment if it's still higher than you're target rpm. Good luck!

9200 is where you wanna be...i've got mine about 75% dialed in...it'll only do 100mph, but its bogging at 70mph cuz the clutch shifts too much...so stiffer spring in secondary and i should be fine...
side note, i'm quicker then an apex rtx up to 70mph on hardpack
