Just wondering what the popular choice of oil is and what your driving. Is everying using synthetic with power valve engines or are you using Yamalube??

Amsoil Interceptor. I was using Yamalube, but I switched after I cleaned the powervalves to see if it makes a difference - I don't know yet.

Nothing but Yamalube 2S. 3000 miles later, I decided I ought to look at the power valves. They slid right out, I wiped 'em down with a little GooGone.
I'm sure Amsoil is good oil, just like Yamalube. The difference in quality between the two isn't worth obsessing over IMHO.

Amsoil Interceptor. Used to run Yamalube for a few years than tried Amsoil and it burns alot cleaner and less smoke, and what smoke there is, it is white, not blue.

Switched to Amsoil years ago in my 500's, back when some guys were having issues with power valves gumming. It seemed to work like this: Yamalube with stock settings throws so much oil into the motor, the power valves would be ok, but would need cleaning now and then. With Amsoil and leaner than stock oil pump settings, the SRX's would be clean, and rarely need cleaning, but would gum up at stock settings.
Amsoil continually changes and upgrades their formulas, 2S is the same stuff I ran in my '76 YZ80 I believe...
There's a big difference between 2s and the new Interceptor! I more than doubled my oil milage by switching to Amsoil products, because of the added protection. Leaned the oil pump some, now on trails I get about 180miles per quart.
Good luck!

just went to klotz. for the previous 5009 miles in my 03 viper it was yamalube. never had any problems with yamalube. just changed to see if it would smoke/smell less. before that I had a 97 600 sx with over 9k miles and had yamalube in that.
I've used Klotz in everything with no issues for 10+years, but have a gallon of Blue marble that I'm going to try... that is if winter ever decides to return.

Seems like the only reason people change from yamalube is the smoke/smell... or they're bored with it, lol.
Klotz!
Yamalube in my viper and srx. People bash it but I have yet to see proof it's a bad oil.

It's not a bad oil. Made for yamaha to their specs and their sleds are made to run on it.
And call me strange (everyone else does! LOL!!) but I kinda like the smell!
