Went to start sled, battery dead. Charged battery put it back in sled started fine. Left it a couple days battery dead again. Started the sled on pull cord put the meter on the terminals meter read between 12-13v (didn't get exact #'s but did go over 13). This only started after I had her apart for the reed notch. Coincidence that the battery dies or have I inadvertently unplugged something. How long does the battery usually last in a sled? Can someone lend a hand before I make the trip to the dealer? Thanks.

Take the cables off the battery and then test the leads with the sled running... see what kind of volts and and amps you are putting INTO the battery.

Sled running, leads disconnected and hooked to the meter I got between 10.5 and 11.8. It was fluttering between that. A couple of times it ran over 12 but too fast to get a #.

You can take the battery into Canadian Tire or Wal-mart and they will do a load test (at no charge) and let you know the battery's condition. Wal-mart Canada's Energizer motorcycle batteries are made by Yuasa. ($74.99).
Royal Distributing has them for $54 plus shipping. Both places are alot cheaper than the dealer.

Your battery should be fully charged to get an accurate voltage reading while the sled is running with terminals connected.
