I was wondering if some of you will help me decide what to do with the clutch on this snowmobile I just bought. I want to get a clutch kit or something but have no clue what I should get. And, I read this post by Turk that says "For a 01 sx-r change inner rivet to a 4.5 gram, get a used RX-1 helix (51/43)& that sled will be as good as it gets." What do you guys suggest I do? I know basically nothing about clutches but I've been doing some reading on the tech pages and read something that said you should change the primary spring after however many miles and this thing has 4500 on it. So should I replace mine?
Right now the thing is engaging at too low RPM's. According to the specs it should be 3900 and it's engaging at about 3400-3500 according to the tach. I don't know if it makes a difference or not but this thing has had electric start added to it would that change the way the clutch works? It seems like it might but like I said I know nothing about these things.
Thanks a lot for any help.
P.S. I only weigh about 140.

I can't help you with your clutching, but I can tell you Turk is one of the TOP clutching guys on this forum if not the best. Don't disregard what he says, just make sure the info he posted is current as recommendations change over time when they find new combo's.

From what I've read on here so far I pretty much gathered that he (Turk) knows what he's talking about from all the posts asking him about clutching. If that's better than any kit I can get then I'm all for it since it'll cost half as much as the kits I've looked at. That's if I were to buy a new helix from Yamaha since I don't know where I would find a used one.
