My 95 600 vmax is darting bad, has been since last season. I'm sure it is because there is too much ski pressure and the entire length of the runner is touching the ground. How do I go about shimming the ski's to get more pressure on the rear of the ski so I have some lift on the front so the runners are off the ground the necessary amount. any help is appreciated.

Check out the tech pages. Vmax John has a nice article on this. You can also do a search for "Darting" There are a ton of threads on this.

I don't think the shim trick will work on a pogo. I put a set of ski savers(bergstrom) on my 96'. It really helped a lot.

What did you do to make the shims? Where and how did you place them.
The tech page article seems geared towards the 97 and newer trailing arm models and I'm not making a lot of sense out of it for the TSS models. Is the bottom of the TSS technically the "spindle"? If you could tell me what you did I'd appreciate it. This darting makes the sled not so fun to ride.

The shims came from Bergstrom when I ordered my skegs so I didn't make any. The TSS comes down onto the ski in the saddle. It's pretty much the same principle. I put a shim under the rubber of each ski in the back part so it forces the back of the ski down into the snow. It's all still relevant in the how-to, we just have a slightly different look with the TSS.

I took a wooden shim like you would use in a door jam about a 1/8 to 1/4 inch and tapped it in until it stopped on my 94 VMAX 600 with a 2000 venture 600 skid installed and it worked really good. Just tap it in and break off excess.

If there's alot of miles on it, I'dput some new bushings in the front end, I had an exciter with 10k on it, and the skis were sloppy loose. That being said, shimming the ski bumpers will help only if there's too much pressure on the front of the skis.

vmaxjohn, there is about 4500 miles on it, I'll check the skis for looseness, i do know there is too much ski pressure though as the whole length of the runner is touching the garage floor, from what I've read the front of the runner should be 1/8" to 3/16" off the floor. Calling Bergstrom to get some of the thick ski savers and maybe this will help with the shims.

I didn't want to make a commercial for Bergstrom but they know what they are talking about. I used them on my stock xt ski's and then on the plastic doo ski's I replaced the stockers with.
