I have a set of 02 Viper Front KYBs and springs on my 97 500XT and they are valved really stiff. I have heard alot of guys complain about that, was there ever a factory update or something like that to soften them up? I know I can get them re-valved, but it would be nice if I had a cheaper solution.

My 2002 viper never had the update and i love the way she rides, I think it was just a lot of hipe just like the viper being slow !
I tried my friends 2003 and it just doesnt feel the same , Less acurate and a softer sloppy feel , Yes mine is stiffer but rode better in all conditions.

yes yamaha had a shock upgrade program but i believe it has now ended. However, you may be able to find a dealer that still has new updated shocks laying around and could exchange yours, or just buy them from them outright.
