16 ''wide 151 track on MM 700?

I want to put a longer track on my 01 MM 700 and have found a guy selling an 05 151, 16 track clipped every second window, I also want to change to Extrovert drivers. Does anyone know if this track will fit and if you need fully clipped track to use Extroverts? Also any gearing suggestions would be helpful. (Have Bender pipes, boysen rad valves, ride from 4000 to 10,000 feet and weigh 210lbs) Thanks.
 
There have been several people on Snowest running third window tracks with extros after punching the windows but not adding clips. So far from what I have read the results have been OK. I have been thinking about doing this to my third window track for next season.

As far as a 16" wide track, it can be done. Do a search here and on snowest and you should find plenty of info.

you will need to have every window cut in order to run those extrovert drivers, im not sure about the 16" wide, did you measure the width of the tunnel to see if a 16" will even fit?

It will fit and has been done by a few on here and several on snowest. If you do the math, a 144x16 has more surface area than a 151x15.

Yes, the closed window track will have to be punched for the extros.
 
yes it will fit, you have to modify your drop brackets or get different ones. also, grind the chaincase bolts down,..........search my old posts, and you should find answers...

i run mine clipped every third bar. no prob's yet. as long as the windows are all punched you can run extro's. if they arent, you can cut them yourself like i did on my stock track. i used a roto-zip worked like a champ.

also, dont forget to drill the track to help with the rolling resistance, and some weight reduction, along with great snow cleanout!

There are 3 mod MM's in my riding group, mine being one of them. Two are using 151 by 16" and cat suspensions. They had to change the upper rear wheels on the cat skid to accomodate the wider track and do a little grinding on the some up front bolts but they both work great. I choose the 162 by 15" and a cat skid. It works good too. Everyone has a little more track/driver noise with the extraverts. At the time we built these sleds, I was concerned about clearances but knowing what I do now, I'd use the 16" without hesitation.

i had previously changed to 20/40 with 8t extro's, but since i added the wider track, ive lost some track speed, so im going to end up at 20/42 or 19/41 or something there abouts.

I am using 20/42 with 9 tooth drivers. One of the MM's is using 19/42 with 9 tooth. Both sleds have rolled chaincases. You said you ride between 4 and 10k ft. I have been told that the ideal gear ratio is between 2.1 and 2.2 for high elevation. Hope this helps you.
 
Thanks guys think I'll try around 2.1 and go from there. I was out yesterday playing in about 2 feet of pow, too much fun but I think a bit more track is needed.
