CDI or stator. Get them both checked. Maxdlx

Sounds like CDI is overheating, this can happen from bad stator resistance. You also need to check your pickup coil for proper resistance.

BR7ES plug are not colder (BR10ES are colder). They are hotter. Don't ever run the wrong plugs in your sled to compensate for some other problem. I would do a resistance test on all the circuts. You may also check and or change the plug caps (to NGK caps) I know the stock ones gave the Yamahas fits.

Can I check this myself? If its the CDI box and intermitten?

Check with your Yamaha dealer for OHMs tests for resistance. All the specs will be in the manual. I have one for a SRX. I don't know if you get the same reading as the SRX, but I can give you some #s from my book if you would like. Brad

Still Need Help
Guys, I cant believe this Chit!! I am still having the same problem! I changed the CDI box and still the same probelm. Sled just dies and one pull and she takes off again. It acts like you turn the key off, no popping nothing. Not the TORS. I checked the entire harnes. It must be the Stator? How can I checked it?

Oh ya, one other thing. My temp light comes on intermitten even when it's disconnected from the sensor.
pull your harness and check every wire
the last post you made is indeed a wire harness failure!!!!!!!!!!, somewhere you have a shorted wire, the only way the bulb can come on when disconnected from sensor is if the wire is grounded!!

Just an other thing to check...Last year we spent most of the winter looking for a dying problem in my nephues Arctic Cat. For some reason, he didn't like the engine cutting out when he was skimming water on the river. It ended up being the throttle safety on the handle bars. We replaced it and the problem went away.
Just an other idea.

Anyone have a wire harness???
I am having the same problem with my sled..has anyone figured this out!!!!!!!!! It would be a shame to burn it up ...But I am getting pissed .......
my 2 cents
check chaffing wires on the handle bars and towards the kill switch...does it do it when turning more than when straight riding...also I read a post about a wire causing this guy alot of grief under his seat going towards the tail lamp his headlight was fine and all of a sudden his light started to flicker and robbed power from his engine and it was this that was his problem...also check the rear bulb socket for rot...start with the basics..like compression test, are the carbs cleaned and the vents clear...good luck and please post back as any reply and fixes are helpfull to others..p.s. don't play around with the plugs...keep it simple and reliable
