SRX vs APEX

Want to hear from some well set up SRX's running 1000' to 1500' against the Apex - no ported or big bore SRX's - just good running ones - anyone?
 
Just got back from a trip in the UP and had a friend renting a Apex GT. Man that is FUN sled to ride :). So we had a stock APEX and my 2001 stock SRX with 144 picks down the center. On a fresh groomed trail we were dead even till 80mph. I would let off then as it was night time with snow coming down, so visibility was not the greatest. Not sure what would happen beyond 80mph.

Sorry for the OT reply, but where did he rent an Apex GT from??? If it wasn't an insane amount to rent one someplace, I would be all over that just to experience how they ride. I love my SRX, but those new sleds are sure calling my name (just hung up on the $10K issue hahaha)!

About a month ago they had a radar run in front of my house and there was a new apex that did 117MPh. I have a 1999 srx700 clutched, can, 192 picks track is 1 1/4" which is not helpping me, cold air, and vforce and i only ran once down the track and i posted 110.9MPH. I think with some tweeking i can run close to the 117mph. After a little while i noticed the apex was taking off about 100 feet before the radar track and i think if i would have done that i might have gotton 112 or 113mph. Rev 800 ran 110mph and an RX1 ran 109mph ;)!
 
hey yammi 4-7 inches tonight , you got any flat land to run on ?? i'v got the gt you got the srx ...i dont think park lake is froze up , but we could find a back road or something to run on .....
 
Too bad all my sleds are up north or we would do it up - I think it will be close until you get to the century mark - how do you like yours? - have you done anything to it?
 
put on the flex skis and thats it , i really like it , nice smooth power band and the ride is really really nice ..to me the gt feels faster than it really is but it does get up and go , i know im pounding sleds that i could not beat with the pipd viper , but the viper had a huge track on it so who knows , just thought we could give some first hand info on this highly debated subject .. take care
 
DUDE, TRY THAT SET-UP I SENT YA AND GO RUN A APPEX !!I HAVE A 2000 SRX SET UP FOR 660 ON ICE AND MY 02 SRX FOR SNOW. I LOVE TO GIVE YA RESULTS BUT OUR WINTER IS TERRIBLE HERE AND NOBODY IS OUT. I DID RACE A APEX ON GRASS WITH MY VMAX 4 800 AND IT REALLY WAS NOT MUCH OF A RACE. !! 3:16 (tony)
 
My 2006 Attak would have it's hands full with my old 2001 SRX I'll TELL U. Those SRX's R still pound for pound R the NASTIEST Yami's EVER. My new one last night got up too 119mph[dream meter] in what seemed just a few seconds, I still had more and she was pullin like a Freight Train. :WayCool: But it was snowing pretty good and was tough 2 C, BTW.........I was riding Double, and my CO PILOT even said YIKES THIS THING FLY's..........Of course that was after she finished SCREAMING IN MY EAR :D

....A well Tuned or Modded SRX Can Hang With The BIG DOGS........Pretty FRICKEN IMPRESSIVE 4 A 700 2 SMOKE ;)!

At 100 miles on my 06 Attak I run ski tip to ski tip with a ported clutched 98 SRX racing for about 3/4 mile. Mine had stock clutching underevving at 9900 rpm. Got er running at 10k holeshot to 10,500 top end so we will run again & see results. Fricken fastest 136" sled I ever owned!
 
I raced my friend's apex last weekend and on one end of the lake I got the hole shot and kept about 3 sled lengths. The other end was 8-10" of snow starting to crust over and he got 3 sled lengths on me and kept it. I have 96 more studs. Heads are shaved .010,clutch kit and gearing to compensate for 8 tooth drivers on a 1.25" camoplast. ;)!

Yammiegod: I got a chance to try your clutch set-up in my 2001 SRX yesterday. WOW what a big differenece. Raced my APEX GT against my 2001 SRX in 1/2 mile . The Apex was on top by 3 sled lengths. Not bad. Conditions on the hill were better than I thought.
 
I ran against a Apex today after about 1500ft I was in the lead after about 2200ft he was slowly pulling ahead to about 1-2sled lengths thats it. I am stock 98 srx 700 with 144 studs, adjustable weight transfer rods and clutched. Thats it. he was running 2mph more than me in the radar.No BS.
 
if you want to race an apex for more than 2000' & have a stock srx you must go up 1 tooth on the top gear. they are geared approx. 7 mph faster than a srx. also srx700s like 8500 rpm for long hard pulls.
