I just bought a 94 vmax 600 that has about 6000 km on it. It has vforce reeds and a 1" track, looks stock otherwise. Missing the foam over the airbox, the warmers don't work and the rear shocks must be screwed (cause the suspension doesn't move when cold).

Besides the normal mtce things...any other tips and suggestions or warnings with this machine.

It's for my girl, so reliablity and tame operation is more important than top speed etc. (which the thing is damn quick...I think it would beat the 97 vmax 600 stock, maybe the 94 has the shorter head gasket...hmmm)

Thanks in advance gentlemen (and ladies)

I put over 16,000kms. on one I bought new. The only issue the sled ever had is that they had a two piece jackshaft and the coupler got sloppy and was replaced under the 3 year warranty they had back then. There was an update with a boot that would keep grease in the joint added in 95 I believe. I sold it to a friend who beat on it for three more years with the only issue being the same one you have, water in the shock that would freeze the suspension collapsed. He was too cheap to fix it and would heat the shock to free it up and keep riding. Overall typical Yamaha with unbelievable reliablity.

I have a rear shock and spring with about 500 miles on it. I swapped out the skid. For a 2000 Venture skid. Shock is a Kimpex 04-284. I have everything from old skid. It is from a 94 VMAX 600 ST 136". Let me know if you need any bogeys. I just want to get rid of everything. Make me offer.
