I have a few question about a set-up I want to try for my 98 xtc 700. I bought this 2 years ago came with Bender tripple pipes and told the weights in the clutch had been changed..to what I dont know? I just put a 9830 w/144 studs down the middle, maxxperf suspension valving and center spring upgrade and want to change the clutching because I dont really know whats in it, dont want to be dissappointed(when we finally get snow) and I think there may be something better. Sled is used primarily for trail but I dont want it to be a slouch on the lakes either. (buddies ride f6,f7,apex,zr900) I'am a real clutch newbie but fairly good with tools, and after doing some searches this is what I have come up with, and a few question I have.
Helix: 51/43 is this stock yamaha or aftermarket, does it matter, which is best?
weights 89l weights w/ 2.4g rivets. Rivets with hole or without does it matter?
springs: use the stock springs...with how much twist on the sec? it has a green sec spring, and it looks to be a white primary spring are these the correct ones?
Rollers: 14.5mm
Also thinking about the airbox mod and head gasket mod but not sure how to set the carbs up for these two mods does anybody have a set up for this?
Would this sled benifit from a gearing change, if so what are you using?
Thanks for your feedback in advance, I know some of these maybe real newbie questions but I just want to get the most out of this sled. There will be more changes next year as I want to add a big block!! (780 or 950 depending on $$$) Yes I'm a power freak (fast cars, fast bike, fast ?????)as most of you probably are!

Ive ran that set up for 3yrs now. I wrapped my secondary at 80 i believe as i rarely run on groomed trails. I have had a 22 top gear, for a year, but havent installed it as Im light, about 165 with gear and this set up has performed well. If there is a better combo, im very interested. Im using a tempa flow , and sled runs well, every time out. This setup works good for me.I never did the headgasket, not always sure i can get good gas, and the airbox mod seems to make the sled tempermental at lower elevations, according to others so i never did that either. I would check the weights that you have in your clutch, clean, replace any worn componets and go from there.

how did you like the 22 top gear...how much top end did you gain? In the tech pages it says to run the 22t/ 40b for a stock sled and stock gears for the piped sleds but I wouldnt mind a few extra mph as long as its not gonna blow it up!
