In the short time I WAS able to ride Friday, I came to the conclusion that my newly installed shims solved about 80-85% of my darting problems. Much easier to stear on a well run groomed trail... much less steering correction is needed. I could actually hold up my hand to let passing riders know how many people were behind me without scaring the bejesus out of them!! LOL!!!
And the sled still carves corners nice and ran down the hard packed road like it was on rails. So, I highly recomend this easy and cheap solution.

Now, anyone got a used 600 twin jug laying around??

They're just plastic but hopefully they'll work good. http://www.bergstromskegs.com/ is sending them for free. I didn't order anything either. I just emailed him and asked him about them and he said he'd send me some. I know you can make your own but I'd rather have the groove in them already.

Order some ski savers from him also, they are suppose to help with darting too and are only 10-15 bucks depending on the thickness that you get. Plus they'll help save your skis and skins. I ordered some, got the shims for free, but have yet to put everything on and no snow yet to test em on to see if it'll solve my darting issue.

Dual carbides will get rid of 99% of your darting problem. They did for me. Only draw back is your cornering will suffer a little. But I would much rather have the dual carbides.....

Let's see... dual carbides for my sled... around $80 or so. Adding my homemade shims... $1.00 for the 4 stainless screws. I like my fix better.

I bet you ten bucks you will still have some darting. I did the shim trick and still had some problems. I could ride all day (
) with one hand on the bars. The duals are much better.

Only reason i did it is because i'm pissed my skis are wearing out in the
front,,and hey if it helps with darting so be it.

Well let's just say that my issue is now at least 85-90% better than it was... and I don't have much occasion to ride one handed anyway.... I like the corners too much!
