I remember hearing people talk about some sort of corner brace for the cowl on the v-max sleds. Are these an OEM part?

They do not come stock but you can order them through yamaha catologues. I have a set and reccomend them definately, especially if you have ever tipped your sled over and have any pressure ont he hood or if there is a high chance of that occuring. The hoods are especially week on those corners, which is why yamaha developed strengthening brackets. The look and work great too!

Just put some on my sled... got them from a TY member last week in a rush... he even dropped them off at my house! (I have not forgotten that I need to send a check... just been reallllll busy!!!)... I have an extra set of FRONT side pieces... but no backers and no reflectors.... you are welcome to the two pieces I have for the cost of shipping. You could make your own backers pretty easy and cut some reflectors out of reflective tape.

I made custom backers for mine. Cracked my hood in the corner last year in a tip over, so braced the hood and covered up the crack perfectly. Reason for the custom backers is that I needed a larger reach than what the stock one provided to evenly support the crack. Made it out of stainless that I cut with a plasma CNC machine.
