should i get an engine tentioner or whatever they are called to keep from breaking motor mounts on my viper i have not broke any yet but i heard they are like 80.00 so i do not want to start if you think i should get one does anybody have one to sell me and where can i get them and how much do they cost
 
the mounts dont break, the bolts that hold the mounts to the motor break under pressure from motor movement that yamaha "built in" to align the clutches under power.

the oem yamaha tensioner, with the offset and center to center specs set to srx specs. will alieviate the stress on the bolts and help belt life and clutching efficiancy and performance.

well worth the 40.00 and the hour it takes to install. ski

Well I can tell you that that the mounts can and Do Break -- got pictures somewhere if you don't believe it.


BTW: Engine tentioner IS well worth the money for all the reasons stated...
 
guess i should rephrase, the bolts fail more times than the mounts do. to allieviate the stress the tensioner is a good idea. for piece of mind you can opt for srx front mounts too, they are beefier, and have one more bolt hole for support. ski
 
In my experience the mounts usually fail only after the bolts have loosened or broken. If the 2 studs in the mounts are kept in place by tight mounting bolts, then the steel stopper tabs should keep the mounts from failing. Of course there are always exceptions.
