have a 2000 sxr 700 one layer removed from head gasket, silencer mod, reed spacers, jetted one size down on mains and one size down on pilots, stock track with 144 studs, stock spring in the primary running stock weights with 4.5 grams in the base and 3.1 in the tip, stock secondary spring at 60 degree twist and stock gearing. problem is the sled revs to 8900- 9000 off the line then drops to 8800 once she's going. i heard this motor should run at 8300-8500 just wondering what i need to do to drop the rpms. i have a 22 tooth top gear that i'm going to install thursday so i'll see if that makes a difference. anyways any input would be great guys thanks.

who put the rivets in the weights. Are you sure you have 4.5 inner and the 3 in the tip. What belt are you using and how many miles.

putting the rivets the other way around would drop the rpm some... as would less twist on the secondary (but that's not where I would start)

4.5 in the tip will get you close, or go with a multi angle helix

i put the weights in myself so they are right i'll try the 22 tooth gear this weekend then go from there might have to pick up a multi angle helix after to get it right

A 22 tooth sprocket will not lower your rpms, it will lower your gear ratio. 4.5 in the tip should put you right around 8300-8600. I gram of weight lowers your rpm 100 rpm, so 1.4 times 3 should be around 500 rpm.

According to the stock specs. your sled should have 3.6g weights in both holes... making it a total of 7.2g of rivets. Given your mods, I'd put a second 4.5g rivet in the weight. What weights are you running by the way? By trial and error, along with some help here on TY, I'm getting to know these clutches!!

ya i think i'm gonna put the 22 tooth in because this is a recomendation on turks tuning tips page then see what my revs are and probably add the 4.5 to the tip as well and see where that gets me as for the weights i'm running they are the stock ones 8df-00's

the gearing in Turks tunning page will vary depending on your set up and what you are trying to acomplish. Re gearing may not gived you the results you want.
I have a 2000 SXR and with my mods and riding style I am always told not to change gearing.
Throwing a bunch of mods on the machine without knowing where you are going and what you are trying to acheive does not work very well (TRUST ME...been there done that).
If you keep adding what may be performance mods without understanding how well they will work all together will most likely cause poor performance.
