viper coolant bleeding...help

I'm having trouble bleeding the coolant in my viper. I found the procedure on another thread. Raised the back and bled that fine. refilled coolant level, but when I tried to bleed the front bleed bolt next to the carb heater control knob nothing came out. thanks
 
Take the screw OUT for the carb heater then GENTLY pull the Carb swith out, about 1/4 inch until the screw hole is free/clear. Start the sled and pre pare yourself cuz it's going to flow (spray, have a way to catch it to avoid huge mess) You will probably have to this 2-4 times, but it definately works. This was recommended to me by bender and it was the only way I could get mine fully bled. When you do this and nothing comes out, it just shows you the size of the air pocket, be patient it will start to come out. Keep running it till ou get a steady flow. Go ride a couple min. and try again etc... hope that helps
 
Ahhhhh...I just learned something..I had the same situation 2 weekends ago after installing my rear cooler...the back Bled fine...but the front had us all scratching our heads...I'll be trying this method ASAP...Thanks for the thread..and thanks for the Answer guys...

i tried doing that, but the knob wouldn't pull out-- took the screw out and tried to pull the knob with pliers, wouldn't budge! do you need to turn it one way or the other? on or off? thanks
 
it works

ive never been able to get coolant out of the head on my 02 viper.
ive always put a 4x4 under the left ski and bled front by squeazing hose between head and tank many times, with cap off watchin for the air boubles to come out.
for the back ive always ran sled till warm then stuck a pointed screwdriver between the rear hose and neck of the rear cooler you will hear the air come out then fluid this may need to be done a couple of times. its a pain but its worked for my viper ;)!
 
Great post allviped. I was scratching my head too, trying to bleed my Viper after a rear heat exchanger install. You weren't kidding about the anti-freeze stuff coming out at a pretty good clip! Thanks again.
 
I bleed mine from the rear bleed hole only. Just ride a little then bleed, ride bleed, ride bleed ,ride bleed...ECT. Takes forever but eventually the air stops comming out. Just leave the seat off between riding, and bleeding.

Sorry for bringing up a post a couple of months old. I have a Venom so I'm not sure if it's a different procedure for a Viper. But could I just connect the chain hosit to the front of the sled and lift the front of the sled about 5 feet from the ground and the air will rise to the top (i.e. coolant reservoir)?
 
There Is A Scew On The Bottom Of The Carb Switch Too!!! I Made The Same Mistake, And Ended Up Looking Around To Find It.
 
Venom: All I end up doing is taking the rad cap off the coolant hose and ride the front of the sled up a snow bank. You can hear the air bubbles in the system. Takes about 10 mins max after a few rides and it's completely bled. This is for an SX so it's the same style of motor... don't know how a viper system works

Ya, that's what I thought. Just take the cover off the coloant reservoir and lift the front of the sled, ...do this a few times and it's all bled.
