Since there is no snow in lower MI I am cleaning my clutches and upgrading my secondary to a newer style from a 96. I removed the 6 bolts that hold the cover on and noticed a couple sliders are slightly worn. Rollers seem good. They have 4400 miles on them. How do remove spider gear? I have a 3 or 4 jaw puller but no clutch puller. How exactly does clutch puller work? Do I need one to do this? I want to go ahead and get this done just in case it snows. Thanks in advance Mike.

Your going to need a clutch puller Mike,, you have to first remove the bolt
in the clutch that runs through it to the crank,,Then insert the puller theres threads at the end of the puller that thread into the clutch and the other end pushes on the crank and pops it of. A pullers around 20-30 bucks.

Here's the basics, Pull bolt out of primary clutch use pulled (bolt with smooth rod that will push against crank to push clutch off (you will need to hold the clutch from turning a wrench will work but you want to be careful not to bend anything) Next (once the clutch is off) you can mark spring locations ect. and remove the bolts. After that i am not really sure. If you are rebuilding the primary i would suggest even though you are upgrading the secondary that you still go through it to make sure the ramp shoes are ok, i am sure it will make a big diffence on my sleds performance (if i has some snow to test out the new clutch parts in mine). I think the only other tool you would possibly need is a spider tool, but not positive, if you are just replacing the bushings and rollers, it should cost for 1 roller and all the required bushings for rollers main e6ct.. around $127.

buy a manual you put it together wrong you can do some serious damage be safe spend the money on a manual

I will wait to spring and have someone who knows what they are doing do it. Is it spring now? I think so I see grass and bird were chirping. For now I am going to clean it really good and put in some 8ca weights with a P-P-P or Y-P-Y spring. Haven't decided on rivets. Think I am going to run a Ultimax 3 belt or Dayco HPX. Trying to find a 47/41 helix or similar with green spring at 70 degrees. Also going from 20/39 gearing to 19/39. I mainly trail ride and love tight twisty trails. I am not conserned with top-end.
