I recently switched from a Bender Roller Rooster secondary on my SRX based mountain sled (7000+ feet) to a Team Secondary, and after returning from my first trip of the season, I have determined that I need a lot of help to try to figure out this Team Secondary. Here is what I was running: Primary: W-W-W Spring w/ no shims, 8DN-00 Weights w/0.8 Aluminum Rivet in tip. Engagement at 4400 RPM. Secondary: 47-39 Helix, Silver spring wound at 70 degrees, Ultimax 3 Belt. The sled would jump to about 8600 and then load to about 8300-8400 depending on altitude. This setup was not quite perfect, but did work well and made good track speed. I then switched to the Team with a 58-44-.46 Helix and a red-black spring(I guess I decided to jump onto the Team bandwagon). With this setup the motor instantly overreved terrible, so I started throwing weight at the primary, I ended up with the 4.5 g weight in the tip and the 2.7 in the middle hole, now this is a lot of weight is what I was thinking and it dropped the engagement to below 4000 RPM, but it got me through the trip. I personally don't think the secondary is allowing the belt to drop in and creating a lot of heat in the belt through stretching and overworking the belt while not acheiving optimum track speed. Am I on the right track? Can someone make some recommendations as to a different combination of secondary spring and primary weights to run? I would like to avoid changing the helix if at all possible. Any comments/suggestions. Feel free to PM me as well. Thanks!
