My 600 Venture is fueling up then it starts to miss when I drive slow, when I crack the throttle it clears up for a bit then it starts again..The sled is hard on fuel ( I think it is 80 kms first half of the tank topped right up ) I was thinking of adjusting the needles would this help..There is tons of 600 tripples out there what can I do ?? The main jets have already been slightly changed by the dealership what should I expect for fuel mileage with this sled??? I know conditions matter but just an idea....I have heard how reasonable these sleds are on fuel, yet to see it....Thank you
I would start off by suggesting that the carbs be taken off and cleaned thoroughly, have the floats set and check to make sure that the choke cable and rod is lubed and returning fully and not staying out some.If you say that the mains are allready smaller,I assume, than stock then you should raise the e clip on your needle jets one notch. This lowers the needle down and leans out the mid range which kind of sounds like your sled needs. There is a reed spacer mod that is quite popular with the V Max's you might look into, its supposed to clean up the throttle responce and running quality of the engine. There's instructions in the tech section for either the reed cage notch or spacers, they both do the same thing from what I understand.Hope this helps.
It sounds like a sticky float needle from your post but hard to tell over the net.
Is it hard starting? Smell like gas when you shut it off? It should be good for around 200km on that tank on the trails at a reasonable pace, off trail would be less.

I adjusted the needles lifted them up one notch, I will see if that will work..I don't smell gas when i shut it off and the sled starts really east 1 or 2 pulls if I don't use the electric start, I would be happy with 200km or more I hope I can tune it up to get that..Thanks for your reply if it dosn't get better I will check my float needle ...

you need to lower the needles for betr fuel milage, not raise them!!
Check the float level. Over time they will richen up. Adjust a little on the lean side.
You may want to check for a broken/cracked/weak reed as well. The mileage thing could be reed related, although I'm not sure how they would affect your miss. How many KM on the beast?
