Hi..

first thing.. when i give it full throttle it revs to about 8100-8200 then slowly drops to 7000.. (within 1/4 to 1/2 mile)

Also what should be the compression on the cyls with open throttle and pull starter..

Also it only does about 75 to 80 mph.. was said in the 90's anyways..

it has PSI twin pipes, dual carbites and studed track (2 every section) the rest is stock i belive..

thanks in advance for any info..

also one thing to add.. this might be how it is..

if i pin it at idle.. slow off the line to about 6000 rpm then just rips..

let me know.. thanks

were the jets changed for the pipes?? stock is 156.3 if you have the stock jets might not be getting enough gas. you could check with psi to see if up jetting is required.

Hi,,you got a great sled there,,a healthy 600 of that year should have
150-155psi of comp. per cyl.

when we pin our '94 or '95(stock) she sits at 8000.

yea.. it should do way more 80 mph we can get ours to 100 no prob.

i got about 120 psi on each cyl.. seems this is bad.

just new rings or overbore and piston kit??

it has a little over 8200 km.. just might need new rings??

also what oil is good to use?? using castol super snowmobile oil now..

any idea on the size of the jets for the pipes??
options i have are 160 162.5 165 167.5 and 170 over stock

plus it's normal to have a huge hp gain at 5800 rpm?

I wouldn't say compression is bad. Every tester is a bit different. As long as they're within 10% of each other. I think your fine.
I think 8200 is fine also.
As far as the jetting for the pipes, I really don't know. Checking with PSI is a good start.

what about starting at 8200 rpm then falling to 7000 while still full throttle??

Yea..if it's running good at 120(are both 120?) i would'nt worry about it
too much, keep an eye on it thou,,it is on the low side.

I'm not shure on the pipes,,i run my sleds all stock.

Have a look at the clutches. weights, rollers, helix sliders...........do some searching on the forum, lots of threads to read about isues. What it sounds like is something is holding the clutches back from shifting out any further. Does the sled keep picking up speed when the RPMs drop or does it just kind of flatline?

loses speed when it drops.. i would say 140 km at 8000 to 115 at 7000

hard to say the speedo cable is broken
