Give me your best mod for your viper excluding pipes

Well, my Viper has the typical triple pipe/clutch stuff which is great fun, but the best stuff I've done so far is a combination of 2" riser, Excell seat riser, and front Ohlins shocks. I ride a lot of tight, narrow woods and old logging/forest roads. Fields, ditches etc. Groomed trail is seldome in my vocabulary and the nasty rutted out mogul stuff is the norm. PLUS, my riding partner runs a 600HO REV which IMO is made for that kind of riding and very tough for a stock Viper to hang with in the ROUGH stuff. The risers have transformed my Vipers ergos and made a world of difference in this type of riding. I can actually take the junk sitting with my feet under me (like a REV) and that makes such a difference. The seat riser alone is a must for a bump junky. I would like to be a little further forward (Apex style), but it is SOOO much better than stock for my riding. The Ohlins just sweeten the deal and are worth every penny. Replacing my revalved rears with Ohlins will be the final part of my bump monster transformation. I'll never have quite the manuverability in the extreme tight stuff that the REV has, but on the occasions where things open up, I LOVE the long legs of that tripple. Nothing like amazing your REV buddies by sticking to em' like glue through the rough stuff, and then checking out when things get flat and fast again. best of both worlds for me.

The Ohlins, definitely! It took me a while to get them dialed in. But thanks to some guys on this site it's now a dream to ride. The 51/43 helix and green secondary spring was not so bad either. Had it triple piped last season, and i can honestly say that i don't miss them. A 1.5" ripsaw would be sweet though :)

This year I added 144 woody megabits centered, 53/43 helix with green spring @ a 60 wrap, engine tourque limiter and rox treads and a chrome low shield. They all really made the viper come alive and grip to the trail. I added c&A advantage skis with shaper bars and love them too. Engine is all stock and runs great. I have the best gas mileage of the group of similar sleds and oil.

if you ask me last year, i would have said cna skis (not the sports), 1.25 camo track were a great combo. track alone was a huge improvement and 2" riser was also a great addition. this year i went 5.25 articulating riser with 136 expert x and 1.5 lug track. the clutching was changed with HC's and roller sec but the skis, track and 2" riser combo made the sled so much better way better and more fun to ride. I bought my wife an 04 viper and the first things i did was put simmons skis on it and 2"inch riser and rispsaw. and she loves that sled now. wasnt to happy when we first go it. it does make a new sled.

These are mine : torque limiter not yet on machine
green secondary 60degree wrap heel clicker 3g heel 3grams tip
nothing in the middle , red primary 48/40 helix. I havent tried
this combo yet but installed on machine.
96 studs up the middle.
45 degree handle bar hooks & one inch riser.
shim the skis.

Did all this yesterday but havent tried her out yet.

I just got a chance last week to try out my new track, Hacksaw with 96 hornets down the middle(got it from richmotorsports). The difference was amazing.Hooks up phenominal and I gained top end, must be the lighter weight of the track. I cant imagine any other upgrade making that kind of difference( performance wise).

Best mod to my sled was a 1 and quarter ripsaw big difference by far the best money i spent on the sled

In order this is how I like them

1. M10 w/ Ohlins
2. 3 1/2" riser
3. Ohlins up front
4. C & A Skis
5. Ripsaw.

By far the best upgrades to start with are improved shock valving and replacing the stock track with 1 1/4".

mpi 136 kit w/ 136 ripsaw ;)! it is a completly different sled!
bender 4x4 single pipe w/bender canister and heel clickers 40-10s, c&a skis, torque limiter.

studs, 4" riser, excell seat riser and ohlins for next year ;)!

So far I have added 2" bar riser.. money well spent on the Viper.. recommend it for anyone and everyone. Tilt your bars as far forward as you can get them to go and bolt them down. The machine is night and day to drive with the risers compared to stock. So much more control when flying though the twisties. I added the tourque limiter and 4.5gram weights to primary clutch with 54/43 helix and green spring wrapped at 70degrees. I also added 144 Woody's studs and 6" Woodys trail blazer carbides. I added last weekend 05 RX-1 saddless skis with shims. What a difference over 03 skis. The 05 skis are lighter and have a more agressive keel. The shims eliminate all the darting. The machine carves awesome now. I have front PRC Ohlins on the way. I can't wait to put them on. I hope they work good. I am planning to cut the windshield and paint it for next season. I am also considering going to 9830 track with 144 studs for next season as well. The sled hauls along real good. I beat a stock RX-1 on the lake last weekend. I beat a rev 600HO. I stayed with a ZR900 up to about 90kms. I stayed with a REV 800Powertek till about 80kms.. The guy with the RX-1 a beat was kind of pissed. He said I should feel good. I said I do.. I beat you didn't I.. ;)!

I love my ripsaw. and just had the dealer order me up some simmons, cant wait for them! will be stuck to the trail at both ends now lol!

Valving, or m-10
Track, or studs, depends on what your riding on.
C&A skis

You really want to be able to control the sled before adding speed mods.

Clutching
Tempaflow

Precision skis, 2 in bar riser, snoslips, extended brake lever, handle bar hooks, I would say the skis were the best mod. :yam: :WayCool:
