nice pic yamaouch08, and vipertripplexxx you are absolutey correct about control! I remmeber the polaris add from forever ago. all that power aint worth a handfull of spit if it dont handle!
quebec#1 said:Great going !Nb-Viper have you got your rpm's back up ?
Yeah the dealer did't put the power valves back together properly and the one on the PTO side came apart. I took back to them and they fixed it no charge. They swore up and down first that there is no way they came apart. I love it when I am right. This thing hauls nice. The clutching is spot on now. I want to race a bone stock viper and see how bad I beat him. I also thinking about adding some high density foam to the seat for next season. I think a new track is in order so I can hook up better as well.

tpi valves are a very simple upgrade to a viper and will add 3 hp also 136 long track greatly improves ride!

timebomb, are you overall happy with the bender exhaust setup you have?

I have the Bender 4x4 and can and quite honestly it feels like I lost mid-range power when I went with the can but when I put a gutted (by Fixx racing) stock exhaust suitcase back on the the mid-range pull came back.03viperguy said:timebomb, are you overall happy with the bender exhaust setup you have?

really?? that sucks. I still dont get what what fixx can posibly do to the viper exhaust. it is damn near gutted from the factory I thought. not the same at all as the non valved motors. wonder what they do to it??

i'm very happy with it. maybe it loses somewhere in the power range and maybe not but it isn't noticeable nor would it make a big difference. honestly i think i gained a little power but that is with heelclickers too. my viper is def. faster than it was. sounds great, alot louder than stock and it shaved alot of weight. i didn't get it for more hp, i wanted a lighter exhaust, better sound, and i've always liked bender stuff.

SRX RIDER said:Well, my Viper has the typical triple pipe/clutch stuff which is great fun, but the best stuff I've done so far is a combination of 2" riser, Excell seat riser, and front Ohlins shocks. I ride a lot of tight, narrow woods and old logging/forest roads. Fields, ditches etc. Groomed trail is seldome in my vocabulary and the nasty rutted out mogul stuff is the norm. PLUS, my riding partner runs a 600HO REV which IMO is made for that kind of riding and very tough for a stock Viper to hang with in the ROUGH stuff. The risers have transformed my Vipers ergos and made a world of difference in this type of riding. I can actually take the junk sitting with my feet under me (like a REV) and that makes such a difference. The seat riser alone is a must for a bump junky. I would like to be a little further forward (Apex style), but it is SOOO much better than stock for my riding. The Ohlins just sweeten the deal and are worth every penny. Replacing my revalved rears with Ohlins will be the final part of my bump monster transformation. I'll never have quite the manuverability in the extreme tight stuff that the REV has, but on the occasions where things open up, I LOVE the long legs of that tripple. Nothing like amazing your REV buddies by sticking to em' like glue through the rough stuff, and then checking out when things get flat and fast again. best of both worlds for me.
What does the seat riser consist of and how much $$, where to buy?

i would say it is lighter in the front end but its hard to tell. i know when you get the front up(racing) or in some powder it doesn't want to dive to the right b/c of extra weight of the stock can and pipe

Hi ,
Ohlins on the front came stock, I added rear ohlins this year. Even though the riding season has been crappy, when I have ridden it the rear ohlins were SWEET!!! I also did the following, Bender 4x4 pipe and QST silencer, Bender clutch kit, torque limiter. love the sled.
Thanks,
Aaron.

TB,
I put the 4x4 pipe and Bender can on the scale vs stock you are shaving 19 #'s off the front of your sled...that's enough that you should be able to feel the difference. I also installed Northern Lites spindles and T-arms and Max Performance aluminum Radius & Tie rods with a PowerCrank steering pivot. I run a 9830 with 240 Reotin Hornets and SLP Powder pros with 7.5" StudBoy shapers and the sled corners like it's on rails and it's very light to steer. I rode 240 miles last weekend in wet heavy slushy conditions on twisty trails and I felt like I could do another 240 miles at the end of the day.
I'd say the top 5 mods to my 04 Viper-S are as follows:
#1 Boss Widetop
#2 PowerCrank steering pivot
#3 Rox SledTreads with Flares
#4 Track and studs (Stock Ripsaw was great but it's no replacement for studs)
#5 Lightweight T-arms and spindles
#6 I like the weight savings of the Bender 4x4 and can but hate losing power...maybe I can get it back through the clutches???

Think I may get it for the weight savings alone. never can tell what time will bring. I always seem to make more plans than I actually follow through on. summer comes and I forget lol!

A new ripsaw is the best upgrade for the money.
Boss Flattop Highrise seat. Best Mod hands down!!!!!
WOW! Way to kick the dust off a 3.5 year-old thread.
While your at it, the best thing I did was shed a ton of weight off the front end with Mountain Performance parts. Made a huge difference in how it rides and handles in powder. The rest has been covered by others here, most of which I've done, including a Boss H/R. Didn't see anyone mention the overall weight aspect in here though.......

Hummm
This would be my order:
1. Boss flat top
2. Apex handlebars w/ 4" articulating riser
3. Expert X skid w/ revalved front shocks
4. Heel Clickers
I've had pipes and big bores and all that crap and my advice is to LEAVE THE MOTOR ALONE W/ THE STOCK PIPE.
