Give me your best mod for your viper excluding pipes

I still have apex bars sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. only a 2 year in the making project.

this is easy:

m-10 air wave
simmons skis
boss flat top seat
taller bars

if someone said i couldn't ride my viper without the m-10, i wouldn't be riding a viper.

I've been trying to find an old Excell riser, but can't seem to get my hands on one (I know I could make my own, but I'd rather not go that route). So I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll probably just have to get a new seat. I've looked at the Boss flat tops on their website, but there isn't even an option for a Viper seat. If I do order one, which sled model do I order it for?

I had an Excell Riser. It weighed 8# and was expensive. I liked the height but didn't like the slope towards the tank. I now run a Boss Highrise Flat Top that shed a ton of weight from the OEM seat and Riser. Call Boss and you will get what you need. ;)!

Viper Mods

My Viper Mods by order:

1) 1.5 ripsaw track
2) 51/43 with green secondary
3) Xpert X
4) Bose Flat Top
5) 2" riser

All together I love the mods but my favourite by far is the X suspension and Boss Seat. I haven't had the suspension in long enough to set it up right but man I love it. Getting into an 09 Apex this year but there is no way I am getting rid of the Viper.......too much fun!!!

My Viper S mods:

- rail grips
- rca power jack for heated shield
- 2" bar riser - going to change to three before the snow flies
- Boss Flat Top Seat
- 1.25" Ice Ripper track
- needle bearings in suspension relay rods
(Came stock with the front Ohlins)

Mods planned for this year:

- CB Performance Aluminum Trailing arms
- CB Performance Sway bar
- Rox Sled Treads

power valves. thunder products.wake it up on a 04 .next .dually wearbars youll never dart just carve. m10 beautiful ride would not go back to stock ever.clutch kit heelclickers with roller secoundary .overrated

04 with 136 ripsaw might clutch it wifes but i will ride agressive when Iam on it

I ride an 08 xfire cat with a 144x2 and bought an 04 viper for my wife
this year and put the xfire 136 track 1 1/4 with extensions.Sled has low miles.
I will be riding it too in lower snow conds and want to clutch it for the better
traction of the long track. I been reading to leave the stock primary setup
alone and add a 53-43 helix and green spring. The gearing seems tall when
I swapped track its like 23 on top anyone drop 1or2 on top? Cleaned
pwr valves and carbs might add riser but inch or so not too tall for the
wife, added prefilter to sled .This is a great forum lots of help and well setup.
Is my first yamaha and any ideas on the viper would help.vinman

OK I'll bite:

Reduced Rolling Resistance
1. Oversized Polaris idlers
2. Oversized SRX rear wheels
3. Fourth wheel mod
4. Marginal snow kit

Improved Clutching
5. Torque limiter
6. Heel Clickers
7. 48/34 helix, green at 60*

Improved Traction
8. Carve 1” Track
9. 144 picks, all down the middle
10. Sharper bars 9”

Improved Comfort
11. Custom seat riser
12. ROX 2” pivot riser

Improved Performance
13. Bender Opti-cool head gasket
14. Rear heat exchanger

And yes I eventually added pipes, but this post is about best mods without pipes. Plus I may take the pipes off this year for some longer distance touring.

I think the best mods were the clutching and new track. Pre-pipes I ran a 114.3 mph on radar, up from 107mpg with stock clutching.
