sweet! my dad had a 96 500 xt that he had a little over 13k miles on. NEVER opened the motor. yamalube always. had to replace the primary though, wore a valley into the face of it lol!!!

I'm at 16,805 in the garage right now and the only thing done to it has been new skis beginning of this year ( C&A outlaws) original track still holding on , 96 up the middle . Yamalube always and 91 super or better . Keep her going there's lots of life left .....

thats great!! but imagine how much better it would run if you had put rings in them, they definitely have blow by with the mileage posted in these last few post!!

A 2 stroke is not a car engine and needs ring service! Like I had said before, it may seem like its running great, but they lose performance slowly and its definitely not running the same as when it had 1500 miles! I think people tend to get used to things and dont notice it, if it were reringed and in some cases new pistons and rings installed youd think it was just big bored with new found power. good luck!

How do you guys drive these long-miler`s? Do you open the throttle wide open every once in a while, or just cuttling with it at 3000rpm round and round on the local lake in 2 inch snow?

16000miles in deep snow riding in the woods/mountains would impress me alot! Something alot of the competitors would dream of..

piston and ring wear would be interesting to measure on one of these engines.. I belive mrviper has a very good point in his comments.. Just a compression/blow-by check would be interesting..
