At first i was little afraid of buying stuff on EBAY but over the last year the wife and i have scored some good deals. Most recently i picked a good used tach for my 2000 SRX for $36.50US shipped and a gauge pod with windshield for $52.50 shipped. Considering my local dealer wanted like over $200 Can for each i think i did pretty good............have yet to scamed (knock on wood!!!!).........James

1 bad out of 52 ... it's not what it used to be - it's turned into a storefront for so many, when it used to be more deals and one off deals. the one thing that gets in the way is the shipping cost - someone charges you $15.00 for shipping and the item comes in a 37 cent envelope, but what can you do.

500+ transactions

I have used ebay to buy adn sell items over 500 times and I have had three bad experiences in three years.

There are good deals to be had, just requires patience and the knowledge that if the price is too high this time, trust the site, someone, somewhere will have the same item for sale again.

0 bad out of 103 for me. the shipping charges are the only thing you have to watch out for. i bought a s-video cabel for my xbox for $5.99 then had to pay $25 because the guy only shippes with fed ex

Bought and sold over 250 items since 1999 and got burned twice early on..... I won't pay big $ unless I have a full name, address and especially a real phone number.... people can ignore e-mails but, if they stiff you and you can call them up on a real phone all of a sudden they want to make it right ! ? ! :) If someone doesn't want to provide any of these beware ! :(

where else can you sell parts for more then they are worth then ebay.......lol!!!!

I do alot on there and have found some really great deals on hard to find stuff, I always look at what the shipping charges are and most recently have begun to check the feedback before I bid, you will see alot of guys sell stuff cheap then want a handling charge on top of shipping so it makes the good deal not so good anymore. You can learn alot about someone(seller) by reading their feedback before you bid.

just bought 144 woodys backers for $6.00 plus shipping - i think thats a good deal.

I found some bender transfer rod for 63.00 shipped. There out of canada and its been over 3 weeks and no parts. the guy is answering emails and assures me that its customs fault i havent gotten the parts yet but im not sure. Could he be telling the truth? he seems believable. He said it was cheaper to send them in the mail so there is no tracking number.<he used usps> let me know what you think.

I used to work for a trucking company, and we used to clear customs in 30 minutes with loads of goodyear tires - sometimes I think people blame customs for their own problems - I think there are $$ limits on customs clearance - seems to me $1500 or less only needed an invoice.

Trucking companies get through easier cuz its one load...USPS has alot more packages, comming from different ppl...in your case, you had a load of tires, and probably had a broker designated for your company...makes it a lot quicker

Canada Ebay

I know it is hard but be patient. I am in Chicago and it once took me over a month to get an item I won. I think it was a combination of customs and the seller not running to ship the item the very next day.

Give it time. If he is answering emails that is a good thing. It's when they stop replying you know something is up.

If you used paypal, there is resolution available. If you sent cash or a money order, you are screwed.

That is why I only use paypal, for btoh buying and selling. Over 500 transactions. on ebay and only three or so bad experiences. Mostly peopel not paying me after they won an item.

check their feedback before bidding.

You need to file within 45 days with PayPal AND the seller MUST have the money in his PayPal account. i.e. if he pulls the $$ out and you file a claim at 30 days, they say they can't get your money back..... Not much of a guarantee if you ask me. I've been waiting for two items I bought OCT 13th 2005 for $174.90 from Canada and I haven't gotten them yet. We in the U.S. can't get tracking numbers or insurance for shipping to Canada via USPS anyways, but I believe they can get them when they ship to us. If you can get the tracking number from the seller, you could track it using the Canada PO. Hope this helps. Also ask to see if they insured it and if so, how long must he or you wait to file a claim, and then how long to receive it. I'm learning the hardway.
