Here is my latest issue. Its spins nice and free on the stand. However when I'm on it is doing something totally different. Its almost smoking the belt at take off. Once its going is seems decent. When I let off it feels like the brakes are on. What is the deal. Its all been apart including new clutch springs and ramps. Also, when I get on it hard it feels like the track is ratcheting, so I figure its no to tight.

00 SRX: Viper121 Skid with tracks usa extensions. Camo 1.5" X 144" Cross Country, Help ..........Thanks

Get everything lined up in the chaincase right as far as all spacers go? Big one on top, small on bottom. If you take the belt off can you spin the driveline freely by grabbing the secondary with the sled on a stand?

Ya, the chain case is good. I just rechecked it. With the belt of the thing spins great. It seems to be when I place weight on the sled. I don't think it could be a gearing issue.

Could the track be rubbing on top of the tunnel? Had to adjust my Viper mounts when I went to the 1.25 Ripsaw. It was rubbing pretty hard on the tunnel protectors. Just a thought, when you add your weight, plus the track biting in the snow, it could balloon slightly. Hope you find the problem.

It does look sweet though.

Plus at speed there is no vibrations or anything, but it slows down like the brakes are locked.(they are not locking up)

a few ideas come to mind:

chain tension?

front arm adjusted too far out-tension on front shcok spring excessive, limiter straps out too far? seems to be a issue when long traveled

track rubbing on curve of skidframe and if clipped every 3rd window, rubber acts like a brake on hyfax?

your parking brake is on?

your brake pads are worn uneven and hanging up on warped spots on rotor?.

just giving you things to look over.....LOL!!! :2strokes:

Chain tension is decent.

I sucked up the front limiters some. (maybe I should go alittle further.) I can still spin the front shock spring easily by hand.

Track is rubbing on the curve pretty good. I may try some extra wheels there. It is clipped every third window.

Parking brake does not even work.

Brake pades are worn pretty even.

Thanks for some ideas.

Its the every 3rd clipped tracks that seem to drag the most, and as you know the yamaha skid frame has always dragged at the curve, add longtravel skidframe/shocks, a 3rd clipped track and it does act like a brake. Try installing a low snow wheel kit and running 5.350 polaris wheels in the front 4 spots, try to run the limiters up as far as you can without making the sled hard to steer, kinda defeats the longtravel thing tho if you have it.

Just curious, does the sled sit on the front of the skid if you just pick up the back slightly off the ground? Or meaning is the rear axle up off the ground sitting on a concrete floor? sometimes you can run 2.5 mm spacer on bottom of transfer rod and it helps the angle of the skid some too.

i put the wheel kit up front when i did my first 02 srx to a 136. man it took me a while to get that thing dialed in. just get the little wheels and the polaris wheels with long travel shocks. than let you limiters out because the extra wheels will take up the braking action. run anti ratchet drivers so you can run your track pretty loose. you will have o problems after that guaranteed.

If your still having trouble.....I have an 01 srx 136x125 viper shocks in srx skid same rail ectensions your more than welcome to look at for a stare and compare.....It was set up by SKI and was done right. I'm in the concord area.

Srx

Actually this sled is in its fourth configuration. Stock....136X1 Track Viper skid with extensions....136X1.25 Track with Warrior skid.....and now 144X1.5 Track with Viper skid and Tracks Usa Extensions. With the previous set ups I never had an issue. The 1.25 was even a clipped every 3rd ripsaw. I am wondering if the tipped up rail extensions are some of the issue.

that would create a low spot/high resistance spot on the rails where the old rail meets the new

Chain Case?

Quick question.......The larger gear on the bottom....it has a longer side and a shorter side.....which one goes in towards the motor?

how about a side view pic of the sled sitting in the garage on the concrete floor?

I get a pic up tomorrow maybe. My camera is still at work. However I am hoping I may have it fixed.
