best mods for a sx to beet a srx

That seems more like rider error to me. Just by the geometry of the setup, the SRX's should smoke an SX in the twisties.
NOWAY will a srx will beat an sx in the twisties,,.. noway nohow! unless theres a mexican riding the sx! lol

sx will smoke a srx in the twisties, first off the sx is much lighter and lower

but as for the long run i get destroyed by my buddies srx but i take him no prob 9 times out of 10 from stop to about 75mph, but if we do a ROLLING start he smokes me.

Im just looking for some mods that will keep me in the lead for a little longer like up to 95mph , becasue we rearly hit the lakes and ussually only race on short trail strait aways.

so what im saying is i need a mid range to top end mod

which is the best... please help even if you believe it is impossible to beat a srx still what will keep me close to him

best clutch setup= which springs, helix, wieghts ect...
best reed valves= boyesen-carbon tech

i'll give you that the sx is lighter, but lower??? The snowflap on my SRX drags on the ground if i put the rear suspension at factory specs.

The reason you take your friend's SRX from a stop is because of traction, and that's it. It's not that the SX is any quicker, it's that his SRX is not getting his power transfered to the snow.

the srx seems to be more top heavy, ya for sure its the traction, we both have the same track and the same studs, but im 70lbs heavier and my transfer rods are maxed.

dont get me wrong im not basshing the srx, man i wish i would of baught one, but from riding both back and forth in the same day the sx handles better but the srx is a much smoother ride and feels like you are much higher. although i have my suspension maxed and his is half way.

but please no more opinions on which is better, hands down the srx is the shizznet. I started this thread for some mod ideas, please help......

srx has a heavier steering feel 'cause the mass is further forward, makes it feel like it's not handling as well, but if you actually check the speedo you can carry just as much corner speed or more.

Gotta agree, My old 97 700 SX was a better trail performer than either of my 00 SRX's. It was close, but my sx was a trail hugging machine. However I'd never give up the overall abilities of the SRX. The power is just awesome. As for the 4stroke comment. I've seen it both ways. I've beaten SRX's and I have been beaten by SRX's on my Warrior.

You need to pipe it , put transfer rods on it, Im runnin s l p pipes, reed spacers, thinner head gasket, 8ca's w/ a 51 43 helix, shift out at 9000 rpm! geared down one tooth on top ,shelf removed from airbox. w/ this setup you will be real close to the srx!

sweet thanks man, finally some answers you rock,

what about a big bore.

Is it safe to use a thinner head gasket, and where would i get one, would i have to run supreme.

how loud are the pipes are they trail friendly, im in a real noise strict area

After you're done doing all those mods... giving yourself questionable reliability... you could have sold your sled... pocketed the money and used the money you were going to spend on mods and buy an SRX.

Questionable reliability? We ran an 800 big bore a few years ago and it rocked. Never an issue with it and it had 174hp in trail form. That sled was always in the mix with the big boys. Mostly trail riding.

Buy A Vmax-4 Then Ull Beat A Stock Srx No Problem
I had a 1995 v-max4 and I loved it....I bought a 2002 srx and its really not even close...I am not bashing the vmax, both were stock and the srx would pull away everytime...My buddy bought the vmax from me and we raced atleast..30 or 40 times so far, and the srx wins everytime hands down!..Now I am not bashing the old girl, I still love that sled, I am just telling ya the truth!....

if the mods are done properly, reliability shouldn't be an issue.

IF is a really big word. Nothing is more reliable than stock. I've proved this to my friends time and time again with many, many motors.

I modify nothing these days. I love my stock sled. I love my stock truck. I love my stock fishing boat motor.

I have two modified big block chevy's that are good for boat anchors if you are interested. And yes, they were built to proper specs with good parts.

That's what I've found, too. My '96 vx800 is heavily modified and it will only hold it's own with my SRX (also modified quite a bit, however). Stock for stock - SRX.

A well tuned SRX will beat any other non-4stroke yammi out there... I see it all the time... wastes the Rev 800 HO Renagade too... and Polaris 700 Pro-X with some minor mods... just ask Rambunctious from here on TY... those are the sleds we ride with most and he beats them all... all except the nice new Attack in our group.

If you want to beat an SRX... buy an SRX!!!!

ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY.

.....Hell my 01 Stock SRX LAID A WOOPIN on my 04 Stock WARRIOR, Till I added a ECP Filter Kit & Clutched it. Then from a roll or stopped my Warrior was gone but that OLE SRX would come right back and be on the Rear Snow Flap and Squeeze beside me......

VERY VERY FEW SLEDS can BEAT an SRX ;)! :WayCool:......

........Except my new 06 Stock ATTAK :WayCool:
