I am writing this in for a friend who has a 95 VMAX 600 with twin pipes, dial a jets and egr guages.
The deal is he bought it from a guy set up the way it is now and only rides with us a couple times a year on our yearly get away with the old high school buddies.
The sled runs great on the low end and midrange so he keeps up fine on the trails, but whenever we go to cross the lake or have a long straightaway it bogs out at about half throttle which is when he should be going on the main jets. He says it doesn't bother him because it's fine on the trail, but anything that doesn't work right drive me crazy. Any suggestions are welcome.

It's either too much or not enough fuel. Has he played with the dial-a-jet at all. Depending on where it's currently set, set it richer(smaller hole) or leaner(bigger hole) and see which way starts to clean it up.

sounds like a fuel filter problem , cant pass fuel fast enugh on a long run . but fine for short blasts
We've played with the dial a jets (to no avail) and are going to put on a new fuel filter. I will let you know if that helps.
Does anyone have any experience with the dial a jets? Can they get plugged? He just has no top end and I've done some research on the dial a jets and they add fuel to a lean condition ( you jet down when you install them), I wonder if maybe they are just not working at all and that's why it runs good until he gets to half throttle.
