Gang,
Had our second outing of the year north of superior. decided we had such a good time with the sled north folks two weeks prior, to stay there again. i cannot say enough good things about dan and carole, or their lodging.

we arrived late friday night. awoke to cold temps from the warm up the day before and ROCK HARD TRAILS. dan, carole , our group of 7 and a few of their friends rode with us to hillsport where some of the group turned home for a day ride, and some went on to hornepayne with us to have an overnight stay at the northstar centre inn (sponsor too)

we played all the way over, on and offtrail. one mishap and one small bad section of trail (6 miles by odomter) i fell off my sled while attempting to get more snow in my track to save the hyfax, motor and billet wheels in a freshly cut trail reroute on hornepaynes side of the trail to hillsport/manitouwadge. i bounced off the ice fairly hard, thank god for good helmets (hjc acx2 motox) and a tekrider tekvest.

we stayed saturday night at the centre inn having dinner/dessert with good and evil and their hubbys (thanks for splitting the last fritter ladies), the mayor of hornepayne and his wife. the past club prez and groomer (brian rivard) for hornepayne and his wife bambi.

woke up sunday am to fresh falling snow, thank god as that 6 mile section was all dirt due to the warm ups. we took the mani folks offtrail to the real trail, they were totally unsure i could get them there till we popped out on the "A" trail (30 miles later). we split the group up just before hillsport and some went directly to mani, and some went offtrail playing all the way home, i hope you know which way i went LOL!

monday we woke up to another bright sunshiney day and fresh snow and fresh groomed trails. took the gps, maps and headed out with the intentions of finding new offtrail areas, and boy did we ever. we ended up on old haul roads, linking back to one another (after along fun play day). the final trail ride back to town at sunset was tough for all, i call it the last day blues. we all get it sometime during the last day (some earlier than others) lol.

we drove home on tuesday and had to get back to work wednesday. cant wait for the next trip the weekend after valentines day. anyone up for a north of superior trip?

Ahh, great story line and good memories/pictures. When in doubt, just pin it! Mook, you can add the picture to complete the story. If I have to explain it........

You asked for it, you got it! :)

Had to reduce the size quite a bit, but you'll get the picture (I mean "pin")

First one is "Thumbs up!" and the second one is "Hmmm, Still there"

How did the big track on the Apex make out in the crappy snow conditions? I just put a 136 x 2" on my sled and am wondering if I will be able to trail ride it at all without smoking the sliders? I didn't see any ice scratchers on it either?

:yam:

crappy snow conditions? had lots. just a little firm the first day. that pic with chris with his arms in the air, has him with snow to his thigh. he is well over 6'2" so the snow was deep. ski

On the Rx I was getting at least 2k to a set of hyfax with a 2" track. That is a 50-50 mix of trail and off-trail. Have not come up with brakets to mount the scratchers to the Yamaha skis yet, which would be nice for the "hard" trail mornings.
