I have a 97 700 SX that I put together and am trying to work out the bugs.
seems to start, idle and run fine but floods out after running full throttle and slowing down fast. any ideas?

your T.O.R.S system is faulty most likely Bypass it, disconect the two wires going from your throttle lever to your carbs and connect them together.

The Throttle override system is there incase your throttle sticks.

good luck jay

could be an number of things............ what have you done to the sled??

Sounds like you are not getting good enough back shifting. How is the secondary? what is the degree of twist? New belt? Broken spring? center to center?

Need more info on what you have done.

The whole story

Well it is pretty complicated. I bought this sled used at an auction and it immediately blew the engine. With no recourse, I searched and found a used 700 sx engine. Upon rebuilding the sled I discovered the chassis was a 600 sx and the guy I bought it from had put a 700 in it. Well with little experience I got a manual and started putting this thing back together. I rebuilt the carbs using parts from a 97 and 98 and thru trial and error seemed to get them pretty closely tuned. I am not sure if the secondary is from the 600 or the 700. The sled starts on first pull idles fine and screams full open so not sure where to go from here. I talked to a few local dealers who won't even look at it because they say it is a Frankenstein and will never work! Despite them I put it together and am pretty close to a sled I can have fun with again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am going to try disconnecting the T.O.R.S. next ride.
