The original shocks are getting close to 10,000 miles on them and have never been touched. It is time to replace the two rear ones. Will any of the Proaction shocks work from 98 up? I was thinking of grabbing a set off of a Viper if I could not find any other Vmax ones for cheap.
if they are steel body they are throw aways if they alum they can be rebuilt send to a rebuilt for the way you ride and if they are steel yes you can use viper shocks hope this helps

After talking to me dealer and looking at how rusted they are we figured it was just not worth rebuilding them anyways. So knowing the Viper shocks will work does help. Will shocks off of an SRX or SXR work as well? Thanks DARV.

SRX shocks will not work ... .they are short travel. Any long travel shocks will work, the Viper is a great donor as they are readily available on ebay, but usually with the stiffer valving from the 02 models for some reason.
