Viper leaking coolant

lol kinger you sound like the waterboy's mom. Anyway, yea its not too bad of an install. Just be very careful when pulling the old seal that you don't damage the smooth case surface or you may not get a good seal. Those seals are held in with heat activated adhesive, so you need to crush the sides of the old seal in to get it out. Also be very careful when installing the new one to pound it in perfectly straight (use a big socket or some 1.5" pvc pipe) or it will bind and is hard to get out and straight again. Make sure you put some blue loctite on the waterpump impeller bolt, or it will fall out on you, and it makes a big mess of the impeller and cover.
 
I just had the dealer do mine and I think it is leaking again. Do you think the bearing could be bad on the crank side of the weep hole taking the seal out? Anyway going to pressure test it again tonight to see if it is the same leak. Should make the dealer change the bearing out this time maybe?


Never mind, pressure tested it tonight, no coolant leak by the water pump. It must be internal. I am guessing when I put the opticool gasket on I screwed it up. Anyone loose coolant like this after replacing a head gasket? Can I pull it apart and retorque it with the same head gasket or do I need to buy another.

I've been reading coolant posts for days now trying to get some insight. There is all kinds of great info here but no matter how much I read there doesn't seem to be the info I'm lookin for. So I'll just ask.

I have an 01 MM700. I have a coolant problem that I thought was a head gasket. I changed that out and the problem seems to persist. I am blowing cooloant up into the resevoir. I don't seem to be leaking it. The level in the resevoir just keeps going up.

I have read a lot about the problem with the mechanical seal and am wondering if that might be my issue. Aside from tearing into it, is there a way to tell if that mechanical seal is the problem?
 
The machanical seal just keeps it from leaking, so if you don't have a leak sounds like you need to re-bleed the system and you possibly have large air bubbles in it.

Coolant does expand between cool and warm, check when its cold per the line on the tank, ride and let it cool down again if the level is the same you should have nothing to worry about. Re-bleeding won't hurt, can never bleed them enough!
 
From what I've been reading in many of the posts, I understood that if that mechanical seal is going or gone you can get pressure in the system from the crank. I have done what you mentioned and it seems to be not too bad for level in the resevoir. It does go up about an inch then after cool down it drops to about the same point it started. I just thought that seemed a little bit much for expansion / contraction of fluid. I know that bleeding these things is a pain. But I think I have it bled. I've checked 5 times now and with the back raised a lot, I get nothing but fluid out of the back bleed hole.

I have a big trip coming up and don't want to be left riding my wifes MM600. Just not the same as the 700.
