Viper with 45degree hooks

Here's a stupid question, but thought I'd asky it anyway...

I just installed two 45degree Sporttech ultra hooks on my viper. What do you all do when it comes time to cover the sled? My cover will not even come close to fitting with the hooks. It seems like a common mod, so I'm there's a way around it.

I have 45 degree hooks on mine and im able to put the cover on i also have a inch riser. Do you have the deluxe cover ? How about risers ? I also have mirrors on mine and the cover fits nice and snug.

I have had the same concern as you, that is why I do not have hooks yet. I do not know what Viper cover I have, but I curse every time I put it on and take it off over the handle bars. I also have a one inch riser. My cover has the stretchy material over the windy.

I just picked up a pair of the Yamaha round flat aluminum bar ends yesterday for a smoking deal. I thought that these may work better with the cover. However, I am now concerned about these aluminum bar ends robbing heat from the grips. See my post "Do aluminum bar ends rob heat?"

I have a 1" riser as well...

It's the regular cover (same as sx,sxr, etc.) How does the deluxe cover differ around the handlebar area? I thought the only difference with the deluxe is that it covers more around the ski area.

Same situation here!! I have 6 in. rise and hooks 1-90 and 1-45 and have the reg cover for an 02 wonder if the mountain covers from 03 and up may fit?? anyone tried that? :bling:
 
I had the custom cover with the 45* hooks and 2" riser, it was tight but would still work. It seems like it stretched after being on the sled all summer.

The easiest way to put the cover on was: throw the cover over the sled, pull the cover down over handlebars first, then front bumper, then rear bumper.

It wouldn't fit when I added hand gaurds.

90 degree hooks are way better than 45's. I have one sled with 90's and one with 45's, and I prefer the 90's by far. The 90's are also easier on the covers than the 45's.

Thanks for cover install tip. I will have to try putting the cover over the bars first next week when I head to Canada.

You should be fine i have the same cover but with the one inch riser i didnt put the handle bars straight up so maybe thats the difference.
As for the aluminum bar ends , it might rob some heat from the handle bar warmers , my friends aluminum hooks on his apex robs a bit of heat and the dealer as since replaced them with plastic ones.
 
2" bar riser bars turn all the way toward the front just ticksthe windshield
and NO way will the cover fit, when I added 45' bar ends
I like the 45' ends I like the way it makes the bars feel wider

I have the same cover and no way will it fit. I tried putting it over the handlebars first and had no luck. I do have my handlebars all the way forward, so maybe that's why.

I agree with you snakebit on the 45 hooks. they have a wider feel, plus the 90 degree hooks tend to get in the way when turning.
 
Oh damn, I forgot to tell you, I cut about 3/4" off each end of the bars when I installed the hooks, maybe that's why the cover still fit. lol sorry. I did that so the full coverage grips would be the right length without moving the throttle and brake assembly.

Like i said in an earlier post , that i too have one inch risers and the bars are not all the way up. If you put them down a bit that should resolve your problem. I really like the 45 degree hooks , more for the brake side ;)!
If i can fit my cover with mirroirs, 1 inch risers and handguards , you should be able to as well , I also have a low blue chrome winshield may that the reason it fits?
