It was the 97 700 sx that had a pto side bearing issue, fuel line relocation, spindle update, bump stops in the w-arms......take a look at the track, the stock tracks back then were the biggest heeps of crap to date.

I had pto bearing go in my 97 700 mm. Yamaha updated it even tho it was way out of warranty.

how far out of warenty was your 700, i have a 97 700sx with 11000km and it is fine i think, just wondering? by the way do you have any clutch and jetting setups for my sled with bender pipes? i just got a clutch off a 01 mm700 and would like to set it up. the springs are longer in these right?

Gee...a bender piped 700 question. I will take a real wild stab at this. For a good clutching set up run a long style y-g-y primary spring, 89L weights with a 2.4 gram rivet, 51/43 helix with 60 degree wrap. They work best coming out of the hole at 8300 & climb to 8700 max. Run jetting 52.5 pilots, 150 mains raise centre & mag needles. Just taking a guess here tho!!!!! Done this one like a kazillion times!!!!!

LMAO, I would have just told them to go look in the Tech Pages

thanks a bunch turk!!
89L weights
I agree that set up works super for a straigt shot 0-whatever, but the 89L's work terrible coming out of a corner.
The tech page should broken down straight liner vs trail set up to help eliminate 89L ' s in every trail riders box of stuff.

reed spacers, carbon tech reeds, 2 layer head gasket, bender triples and that is about it, any suggestions?
thanks]

8ab w/3.1 in both holes, P-S-P primary, 48/43 helix, white sec spring at 0/2.... this runs good on top and really good on the trail.
