Meaning in the forced air induction holes. Just tried to order the powder filter kit from the dealer and they are discontinued. My brother in-law has slp triples on it and it really seems to run like crap when the forced air is plugged. Anyone else have any input on this? We were just playing in the fresh powder in the UP. Or maybe just ran into some bad gas or something? Has anyone made their own screens or anything? THANKS

I put Mountain Performance's Viper-specific prefilter screens over those, then also added some cold-air filters which vent the intake through the dash (I only used two instead of the 4 they send). Works great. We were just up in Montana for 1000 miles and I don't think I've seen the snow that deep and fluffy in 10 years there. No problems with the Viper.
Scroll this page at Mountain Performance. . They have exactly what you need. Get the dash filters AND the ram-air intake filters. It will solve your problem.

YEah., Just go to the Dealer and Ask for some Viper MOuntain Air Induction Screans.. They Obvously Have them! is your viper a Mountain or a shorty? My Mountain STOCK Kicked A$$ in the Deep Stuff. It was FUN then i added a Set of pipes and Etc.. and Hauled evan Major A$$!! thing was never on the skis in the powder and LOOVED it. Cover those things up, get some screens and if ya got a shorty, you might want to look into getting a bigger track for some pow, What ya got for Track size?

duct filters are still available from MPI, also get an air box prefilter as stated above. those two mods, no more forced snow ingestion system LOL! ski

Another option is SLP's flowrite's. They fit in the dash like MPI's intake filters.
Also here's a trick that I find to work quite well. Pull the screen's, above the brake air inlet, and the lower left screen. When in DEEP snow, the snow will fall in on the muffler and mag pipe corner and melt. The vent's will stay clear. This reduce's under hood temps by a lot!
Do not remove the larger lower right side sceen. It will allow to much snow on the pipe's. Cooling them down and reduce horsepower.
Best of all, it's a free mod, and if it didn't work out for ya. You can alway's put the screens back in.
I never did put mine back in.

The ram-air prefilters were a little more complicated. They are a couple of plastic chutes that secure over the ram-air intakes from behind, and the prefilter material fits tightly over the leading edge of those chutes that they supply. The whole unit is then secured to the inside of the intake. It's actually pretty clever and makes a very nice looking and durable installation. And they do work extremely well. Before those prefilters, deep snow riding, even at low speeds, would ram snow into the intakes and the machine would bog right down. Never happens now.
