I just picked up a edge rear skid and am going to put it into my SXR, I know what needs to be done, so not really worried there.
Just manily looking to see if anybody else on here has done it and what tips they can offer.
thanks

I installed a 2000 Venture skid in my 94 vmax st. Same principal applies. You take the stock measurements from center of drive axle on donor skid to the center of the first mounting bolt. Also measure from top of the tunnel to center of bolt. Then measure from center to center to next bolt and again from top of tunnel. Apply measurements to you skid drill and reinforce if neccessary. Also measure width of your tunnel and donor skid. I had to add a 1/4 inch spacer per side. Any question feel free to ask. It took me about 6 hours to do swap.

great info n2oiroc, that will already save me some time, now i don't have to find a sled to measure.
anybody else else out there who has done it and can offer tips or anything to avoid.

tunnel width is within 1/16" of each other, so just measure accurately, set the rss on high and the fss on high, leave the limiters a little loose and your all set! thats about the best comprimise between a good ride and good cornering.nicksxr said:great info n2oiroc, that will already save me some time, now i don't have to find a sled to measure.

Well, i have started on this mod, not as easy it might be on some other sleds, but still very doable.
After taking some measurments and rechecking and rechecking agian i am ready to go.
0ld skid is out and starting to drill holes and measure.
the back mount is no problem as has been stated before.
the front is a little different.
problem 1)the front mount is just past where the steering gate mounts to the tunnel, room to drill the hole, but no room for a bolt head, so am going to drill a new hole for the streering gate higher and cut the bottom of this off, no biggie,
problem 2) after the steering gate is gone, the bolt head is half on the tunnel and half on the bulk head so they are not even. not a big deal i am going it rivet in a peice of stock to make them even.
other than that the front mount has to be removed to make room for the middle mount to be moved.
i am taking pictures as i go and will do a full right up after i am done. right now i am rating this mod a 6.5 on a scale of 1 to 10 as far as difficulty. hope to have it done by friday so i can ride this weekend, otherwise the old skid may go back in for the weekend.
