Head gasket Mod

Labor day is soon here. Time to start thinking Sleds again!
Why is the gasket mod not recommended? Are there other mods that need to go along with it?
What problems has it caused?

The cylinders have different compression and the Viper is really on edge with the cooling as is. You will take the risk of burning it down and give yourself quite a headache trying to get it jetted to live.
 
If you ride at higher elevations you can. I have ran mine with both layers pulled with it stock and with pipes. However I do ride at 2000'-8000', and always use good premium fuel.

Pulling one layer (.005") will reduce the camber size by .475 cc's
Pulling two layers (.015") will reduce the camber size by 1.42 cc's

It dosn't make a huge difference in horsepower, but throttle response is improved.
 
i pulled one layer right after i got the sled and havent had a problem yet (02 viper), i am also jetted down one size. we ride in maine so i would say upto 4000'. i was thinking of removing the second layer but waiting to see if anyone else has done this.
 
i have one layer at sea level 1000 miles no problems. now i have tripple pipes i will run three layers or maybe two.
