I think the sled is a great looking machine. With a few mods (non-turbo) if this machine can push out near 100 horse that would be excellent. From the video clips it seems like it sounds sorta like a 4 stroke quad. IDK if I like that, i'd prefer a more crotch rocket sound, but i guess you cant have it all. A 1.25 lug track probably would have been nicer as well.
I think it looks awesome! thats for sure.
Heres some info on it....
The new four stroke Phazer features a new two cylinder four stroke engine. It is based on combining a pair of YZF250 engines into a compact 80 horsepower fuel injected twin. The new FX chassis is designed with what Yamaha is calling Sport Rider Forward ergonomics. The Phazer sleds put the riders taller and more forward than any Yamaha model. In fact, the rider and engine are closer together than ever before, giving the Phazer a lighter feel than even its 454-pound dry weight would indicate. (467 lb. FX model)
It is $6399 for the Phazer
It is $7199 for the Phazer FX which upgrades to reverse and Clicker Shocks
Throw some Fox Floats on either and you would save even more weight.
These sleds have 8.1 gallon gas tanks!!! As long as they get good mileage which i'm sure it will be in the 20's, it will be quite economical compared to other models.

Can't wait to order mine! Already shopping around for apparel, accessories and mods. Gonna order the Mountain Lite. The first mod is gonna be similar to the handlebar treatment I gave the Viper: SLP 45* aluminum hooks, Sportech full coverage grips, and black/silver PowerMadd handguards.
I think 80HP will probably be enough for what I'm gonna use it for, should be fun! May or may not keep the Viper too, don't know yet.
I think the Phazer is an excellent value for what you get, excellent milage, no smoke 4 stroke, light weight, standard electric start and push button reverse, gas n' go, play all day!

anyone have any idea why the tunnel is cut out behind the seat to expose the track?

The tunnel is cut out to allow the exhaust pipe to exit the rear of the sled. The motor is so far under the rider that this was obviously necessary to accomadate the pipe.

The motor spins @ 11000rpm, gear reduction? New clutches? What's this "YPZ, Variable Ratio, Electronic Shift" ? I'm so excited!

electronic shift must be referring to electronic reverse.

My understanding from other posts is that it's an electric reverse mechanism that engages the reverse gear in the chaincase. Not a zero-weight reverse but still a lot lighter and handier than having a reverse gear lever that you bang your knee on when riding in the rough stuff. The clutching specs on Yamaha's site indicates an electronic clutch. To me, that's saying something totally different than what I'm hearing about the new electric reverse. Is there an advance in their clutching technology here that nobody is noticing yet?

I thought that was a new machine. It looks like a Snow Scoot with Raptor plastic in the front to me. It looks pretty small. The guy riding it looks like a monkey f***en a football.

Anyone know if there's any storage space in the seat or anything?

This sled is not as small as everyone thinks, i sat on them yesterday in Minneapolis and they are for adult riders. I feels like real light, and the handle bar position is like a apex just farther forward. The running borads are awsome, wide and grippy. There is no storage at all on the sled but in there 07 acc. catalog they have quite an assortment of soft bags and luggage. Check out on Yamahas site the specs of the Phazer and compare them to what you ride, in my case the Viper, and the Phazer is actually longer! It will give you an idea of the size. Although its cool, im very, very skeptical of 80hp, just don't think it will cut it.disturbed67 said:OH!!! My Bad.. That's great!!!! A new sled for kids.. Maybe I'll get one for my 7yr old daughter. Did all the sleds get the new secondary thats on the phazer? Looks like a team/polaris clutch.
