2007 Phazer FX/Phazer Discussion Thread

I can totally see someone going with one that doesn't do much trail riding and only ditchbanging, but what about boondocking? I don't see this doing any type of powder riding. With the lack of HP and no protection I don't see how it would be any fun. It is purely for jumping and backyard riding, which elimnates a lot of potential riders if you ask me.

well so much for checking them out and demo rides. was about to leave to head down to cny powersports and they so they stopped because its too muddy and the 07's arent there now when they were suppose to be.
 
This will be the next sled I buy!!..... Before this buying a new sled was the last thing on my mind with only 1500 miles on the viper in 4 years and $10000 for a new Yamaha…..but this thing is very cool the more I look at it the more like it. If not next year maybe in two.
 
There's a knock control system (KCS) that controls ignition timing and assures it runs properly despite your fuel's octane. It prefers premium, but will run on 87 octane, although you lose 4 hp. Yamaha tells us the warning light will only come on in a severe bad gas situation.

Phazer will get up and go too because it's light. Yamaha took aim at Cat's F5 for weight and appears to have nailed it with a reported dry weight of 454 pounds.

Top speed? Well, we know it will do at least 72 mph, but there's more still there.

This is more than an entry-level sled. Phazer is a sporty snowmobile that's light and fun to toss around the trail with gas cell front and rear shocks. Yet it's steady with its 42.3-inch ski stance and there's plenty of bite heading into corners. Controlling it is easy with body lean, like a bike. Trust us, this is not your daddy's snowmobile!

Underneath it has a 121- x 14-inch Camoplast Rip Saw track with a 1-inch lug along with steel upper and lower A-arms and a single rear exhaust with a sweet-sounding exhaust note that, not surprisingly, sounds like a sport bike.

You sit well forward here, basically over the engine. Yamaha says the riding position is between Apex and its YZF 250 dirt bike and well forward of Nytro. Slipping onto the narrow seat you feel racy and ready to jump.

And yet that seat is comfortable enough to do trail riding too. For style and function there's the round metal boot bar to give you balance if you stand, while also lending a youthful look to the sled. Plus Phazer comes with a small digital gauge pod just above the raised handlebars, complete with hooked grips. A switchblade key starts the sled and while the base Phazer has no windshield, there are mounts to make it easy to attach your choice of a half or full windscreen.

Where did you see the 446lbs stated? 454 is the best I've seen and this for the base model. All the others are nearly 470lbs, which is not that light.

Yeah they were working fine for me yesterday but not now. I was friggin around with the player settings and thought I screwed something up. As soon as the videos work again I think I got a way to save them to my hard drive. It's a program called WM Recorder 10.2 that allows you to record streaming asx files. Havn't tried it yet.
 
lemme know or post back if that program works, if not maybe i can stream it to my tv via my video card, then record it on my digital camcorder then rip to the pc.
 
glad to see its not on my end becuz i just reinstalled my os because i was having issues playing those vids. os was corrupt somehow.
 
MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe you guys don't see it. THIS PHAZER IS THE FUTURE of yamaha in the sno-x market. They will see what it has, and improve it till it has stock and mod competition capabilities. This isn't a "trail" sled it's a future for yamaha. They have to get back into sno-x to fit the buyers.
 
I understand peolpe want to see them at the races, but sno-x seems stupid to me. before you freak out, it is because I ride groomed TRAILS, so when they trickle down 12" travel front ends it has no bearing on me. I will just roll in the corners. but on the same side it is good to see them going for more market share

I agree with the sno-x not meaning much to me, but I think Yamaha HAS to get back into it just for the R&D aspect of it. The nicest R&D track still doesn't compare to an actual race for conditions and abuse, you can't always take the best line when there is three other sleds in it. De-tuning for handling on trails is alot easier than guessing at big bump durability.
