How does the new phazer stack up against the old one (85ish) ie horsepower comparison and weight comparison. Also how does it stack up against the exciters (87ish) in the same categories??

The old Phazer w/ out Electric start back then was around 400 lbs. and had about 53-56HP. With a pipe you could get around 70HP. The '87 Exciter L/C was around 460 lbs. give or take and had about 75HP stock and in the mid 80's w/ an aftermarket pipe....more w/ twins.

Way to go Yamaha you, brought Back the (Fun Factor) to snowmobiling ! Hmmm.... wonder who said Yamaha's new sled would be closest to the Exciter in Hp./Weight ratio ?

No Yamaha or any other sled has given me the feeling of control that I got on my new 88 Exciter on a twisty trail.....missed that so, I went out and bought a 90 Exciter last fall and completely restored it from frame up ! I also, bought a 95 Phazer this winter for my 11yr. old son to ride along with his mothers 1990 Phazer II !

I have an 87 L/C that is having some suspension problems currently. I love it to death as well. Might ride a new phazer to see if it feels close to the same.

I had a 91 exciter and that thing friggen screamed. Plus electric start was pretty sweet too.

The one thing I miss about riding the old sleds is the weight. I had an 85 phazer that thing could go any where…..glad to see Yamaha build a lighter smaller sled. My viper is not a ditch sled and that seems to be (do to bad winters in MN) the riding I do the most.
