01 SXR Suspension too stiff and no traction

Friend just bought this sled. I has a finger track and it will not even hook in grass. Track just spins and it is too stiff for his type of riding. I know that Yamis need a transfer rod, is there any other set up that will help both problems. We did losen the spring adjustment on both rear shocks and it did ride better in the rear but front was still very stiff. Don't really know how to adjust rear, we just backed of nuts on springs.
