Renthal bars

i was wondering how the stock handle bar grips come of a 2000 mountain max? i have a set of renthal bars off my dirt bike i would like to try. but im not sure if ill like them so i would like to save the old grips so i can put it back to stock, if need be. do i just drill out the rivit? are they glued at all?

yes they are glued. drill out the rivet then try separate the grip from the bars with a screwdriver just enough to get the little straw from a can of wd 40 in there. spray some wd40 in and twist the grip back and forth. It should dissolve the glue enough to break loose. Thats the only way i had luck getting them off without destroying them. There are other methods, but thats the only one that worked for me.
